Congrats! I remember that day 6 years ago at our house. Exciting times

Congrats!!! Who called? Ours just showed up in the mail four years ago.

He received a call from our Congressman on his cell and then when he got home there was a call from USAFA admission on our answering machine!

Congrats again! Our Congressman was never informed of the LOA but he did call my son for his Appointment. This is the first I've ever heard of USAFA Admissions calling a candidate to inform them they have received an LOA. Did your son receive an Appointment or an LOA?

It was an LOA. The person that called was his admission counselor contact and told him to check his portal this morning because he was being offered a Letter of Assurance. Sure enough, it was there this morning. His Congressman told him the same thing, that he had been notified that DS would be receiving an LOA from the USAFA. We are still on cloud 9. DS has the MOC interviews in the am and this just took some pressure off but he knows that he still needs that nomination. Also, DS is not a recruited athlete and is not a 1400 SAT candidate but checks almost every box from a 15 hour a week part-time job, to top 15% of class, to 3 sport varsity letter, captain of 2 varsity sports, tons of community service for a project he started to being selected to represent his school on Mr. Homecoming Court by faculty and staff. I just want to tell others, don't think your grades or AP classes or SAT scores are not good enough. It is by far the whole person concept. I say, if you want it, then go for it! Good luck!

Congrats Keseabolt. And thank you for letting folks know that it's the "Whole Person" concept. We've seen a lot of applicants with the stellar grades and ACT/SAT NOT RECEIVE an appointment. That's all they had. The academy is training LEADERS for the Air Force. Not MIT Scientists or doctors trying to find a cure for Leukemia. And "Leaders" need to be well rounded individuals; part of a team; leading a team; diverse in perspective.

Congrats again. And thank your son for us for his willingness to serve.

Congratulations!

Now go knock it out of the park with those nomination interviews!

(After that, we'll discuss bubble wrapping techniques!)

I received a letter of assurance on my application today  I'm pretty far from Colorado so I haven't gotten it in the mail yet.

Congrats!!! Maybe you'll also get a call from Admissions and your Congressperson.

I'm not sure our representative makes calls to LOA recipients because I didn't get a call for my other two LOAs. Are senators/representatives usually notified when someone receives LOAs?

Evidently at least some are. Ours did not....but that was four years ago and things may have changed. What really amazes me is that the Admissions Department is now calling to congratulate LOA recipients. Again....not something that happened a few years ago.

My DD got LOA last week. She got a call Wednesday evening, followed by letter on the portal. The senators and congresswomen were notified the same day. She also got her nomination three four days later.

LOA + Nomination

Son received his nomination today to go with his LOA to USAFA! The nomination was the only thing he had left. Any idea on if this changes to an appointment soon or what steps are next? Thank you.

It depends, in part, on when the congressman turns in their slate. Slates aren't due until Jan 31 so he/she might be sitting on it for a while. Your DS having a nomination doesn't mean the slate is complete yet. Patience. Deep breaths. All good things will come at their appointed time.
