Just curious-- to those who have gotten appointments, where did it first show up? Did it come in an e-mail, in a letter, or through snail mail? Or was it a combination of all three? If so, which one(s) came first? The reason I am asking is because if I get an appointment, I have a cool idea to surprise my parents, so I need to know if I need to get to the mail before they do or not :)

Received an email very, very early in the morning directing DS to check his portal for news about his Appointment. On the portal was a letter of Congratulations. An official letter on nice stationary arrived in the mail about a week later. There was also a link on his portal with a deadline to "Accept" or "Reject" the appointment . Good luck........

Same story. 0500 email from Admissions saying to check the portal. PDF version of appointment letter on the portal with instructions to click to accept or decline (by May 1st). Interesting enough, a TWE with same letter showed up via snail mail a few days later. I've heard that USAFA no longer sends BFEs. :frown:

Thanks! Question-- what is a TWE? I keep seeing that and get confused :p
Also, is there a pattern on which day of the week the notice arrives? Sorry I know I am tearing this apart and waaay over thinking things,I am just dying to hear ANYTHING from USAFA.

It seems like the last few Appointments that were posted on the 2019 Appointment thread arrived on Friday's. TWE - Thin White Envelope which has been associated with receiving a letter stating you were not selected, vs. the BFE - Big Fat Envelope which had/has acceptance information. It appears that USAFA has discontinued the BFE process and does everything online (this is only based on our DS's experience so we could be misguided).

DS is Class of 2018, everything was done via the Portal. Updates were typically EARLY morning.
