Any active duty enlisted trying to apply?

I'm almost done with my packet, but I would like to hear from other soldiers.

From my own research, few active duty soldiers apply, even less, decide to attend once nominated.

We need a little support thread for the active duty! Speak up! :D

What's your rank and MOS? If you need me to make a connection with the soldier admissions officer for you, let me know.

Negative, because I haven;t submitted everything yet. I'm almost done with my packet, need to send SAT scores, candidate statement and nomination from my CO and that's it! I was strongly urged by the CPT in soldier Admissions to submit everything in December. Even a PDF I found said the chances of being admitted go down after december although the deadline is Feb 28th.

ScoutPilot,

I'm a PFC, 68W (medic). Any help will be greatly appreciated. I sent you a PM!

Roger that. That is great! I had my brigade commander nominate me. I have a few general officers writing on my behalf as well. The soldier admissions officer, Capt. Dupuis is very helpful. Keep in touch, and good luck!

Due to security reasons, We should NEVER use any active duty members' name on an anonymous and public forum. Please, don't do that.

Hooah,

Did that Capt. allow you to publically state their name on this site?

We never ever state publicly names...that is what the PM function is for.

Mods p!ease edit that name out!

Everyone just stop it. CPT Dupuis is not only a personal friend of mine, but operates a public Facebook page with his name as the Active Duty soldier recruiter.

You can go look him up on there. Or on the USMA site. His name, by virtue of his role, is publicly available.

Here: Link to USMA Admissions CPT Jason Dupuis

Let's think a little bit before jumping on this young troop.

Thank you for the clarification scout.

That being said, before you jump on posters for their post regarding saying anyone's name, understand our intention was well meant. Would you want your name and rank publicly placed out over the net?

I am not about to google every name dropped to see if they have a FB account.

You don't have to. You just google "USMA Soldier Admissions" and you'll see not only Jason's name, but his photo as well. The same as with every other admissions officer. They are published by USMA for the very reason of accessibility.

Ya i checked first don't worry. I believe he wants his name out there for soldiers who may be interested to contact him.

This thread went sideways quick....

OK. If you are a soldier (or any branch) interested in applying to West Point, just post what's going on with you here. This is a support thread.

Hello all,

Finally decided to join the forum. This website has been a valuable source of information over the past half year of working on my USMA file so I'd like to thank everybody first of all.

I am a prior service Army Reserve candidate. My file is complete and I've been nominated by my Company Commander. DoDMERB qualified status was the last thing and USMA received it this past Monday. PFC fezlopez, I would definitely recommend that you finish everything within December. You will be able to receive your appointment much sooner by avoiding the rush when the Congressional nominations start going to the high school candidates. The admissions people at USMA have advised me that I should be able to receive a decision by the end of the month. It is my understanding that with us prior service candidates, 3Q + Commander's Endorsement + complete file + a decent WCS = appointment. Fingers crossed!

What is a WCS? Warrior Candidate Score?

PV2 Reffert, reserve soldier candidate. I received my Brigade commanders recommendation, and received the reserve component nomination. Recently I've gotten a lot of general officer recs. as well. Did DoDMERB at the beginning of November. File is complete and waiting for word from the academy :)

Reffert,

What did you score on your SAT/ACT?

A 23. Soldiers admissions says anything over 20 is encouraged to apply

So a candidate that normally wouldn't get in can if you join the army? Not to be rude but a 24 is usually the at risk candidates and below that the file doesn't open at all!
