Any recent NROTC scholarships?

It seems like it has been about 4 weeks since I've heard of anybody getting a Navy ROTC scholarship. I know that the board dates and whatnot seem secretive but any guesses as to when the next batch might go out (assuming that I didn't miss some more recent news)?

I just got notified today! 4 year NROTC scholarship to my first choice, Northwestern University. Tier 3 major, 33 ACT, 3.84 GPA with 10 AP classes, top 15% of graduating class. Still waiting on USNA though!

Congrats!
Still waiting on DS's NROTC file... and hoping. We're stuck at the "no decision has been made" step...

Did you already get your nomination to the academy? Either choice would be a great one.

Best of luck.

Hang in there. From what I've read, between now and April is when you'll see a majority of them awarded. Our DS has focused on other things like waiting to hear on nominations etc and finals.

Keep your options open and make sure you've applied at your plan b/c/d schools that have NROTC and you can always apply for program scholarships if not awarded the 4 year.

Good luck

Thanks! I got my nomination very early - its been on my portal since 4 NOV but my app has only been complete since December 1 - I had to work out a DoDMERB Remedial.

Waiting is the worst though, best of luck to your DS!

Congrats to you!! My son is still waiting to hear from them. Keeping fingers crossed. When we check to NROTC status it still says the same thing it has for a while. Hopefully we hear something soon.

congrats on your NROTC scholarships to NU and Cornell! I am curious, have you both been accepted to the schools?

Thank you very much! Just some things to note- my status page said that same thing up until the day the selection was made, so don't worry if it stays the same for a while, and I also got an email with the subject as "NROTC Scholarship Acceptance Information" this afternoon which was what prompted me to go check the status page, so I would look out for an email like that.

Best of luck to your son!

Thank you! I applied regular decision, so I haven't heard anything back yet from Cornell and probably wont for a while.

Thanks! Same with me for Northwestern, I haven't heard anything and won't till April. They don't have an early action program and I didn't want to commit to ED without knowing about ROTC or USNA. I haven't yet submitted my supplement so I'll be sure to mention I've won the scholarship in my Why Northwestern essay... maybe it'll give me a boost in the admissions process.

Congratulations to all the the scholarship winners.

Everyone should keep working their plans B, C, D, etc... even the scholarship winners. It's always possible that DoDMERB falls through, you're not accepted at the college of your choice, or who knows what life event intervenes. Of course if you haven't received a scholarship yet, all the more reason to be working those backup plans. Don't mean to be a downer but one should always be prepared for plans to go awry.

My DS in Maryland received a four year NROTC scholarship last night. His was an ISR (Immediate Scholarship Recipient). He did not have to go through regular boards.

My son heard from NROTC In MD

We have heard nothing from NROTC. DS Navy recruiter has been very slow to respond to any questions which is a little disconcerting.

My son's still waiting on Navy ROTC too--since Dec 2014. The portal says "no decision." :( Son is probably borderline for a scholarship, so we have other plans as well.

Son's been accepted into all schools on the Navy ROTC scholarship application. If the scholarship does not work out, he will likely apply to join Navy (or maybe Air Force) ROTC without a scholarship. Scholarship is not necessary, but it most definitely sweetens the pot. (I commissioned into the Air Force without a scholarship and all worked out well.)
