There wasn't much of a dental exam with the DoDMERB process, so I'm just wondering what the dental exam is like in general on the first day at USxA(I assume they're all relatively similar). What are they looking for? Wisdom teeth? Cavities (fillings or untreated)? Are there ever any prospective cadets/mids sent home on the first day for dental issues?

Sorry for the bump, but does anyone have any insight?

The Dental Exam is not performed on I Day, but rather approx 2 weeks into Plebe Summer. If you already passed your DODMERB physical, then I can't imagine anything dental related (unless something catastrophic happened between DODMERB physical & I Day) would get you sent home. Cavities in particular will not get you sent home.

Our then Plebe had both a cavity to get filled and wisdom teeth which still need to be removed.

Navydad17 nails it. They won't. Maybe if you had braces during the exam they might check to see they were removed. During Plebe Summer your Plebe Summer Platoon will go to dental for an exam. During the academic year they schedule each Class within a Company for annual exams twice a year. If there are issues that pop up you can schedule foliow on appts. Wisdom teeth seem to be hit and miss while you there. I some how graduated with mine, but they took my room mate's. Not sure about now, but when I was there they tended to take wisdom teeth during 2nd Class (junior) year.
