My son is 3Q'd and has both Senator Rubio's nomination as well as Congressman Webster's ... He is a swimmer and ranked nationally and is just anxiously awaiting some news... I have watched everyone's posts and noticed that not many folks from Florida post here and I know that Florida is an extremely competitive state... So just wondered what other Florida hopefuls are out there and have they heard anything?
My son received both nominations in November and within several days of each other.. He is planning on swimming for the academy and has been in contact with the coaches.. But it has been very informal..

Similar situation here. DD has nomination from Senator Rubio as well, Congressman Deutch and a Presidential. Received an appointment from USAFA back in October but not a word yet from Navy. I've seen a few USNA December appointments on the forum but not many. Patience.

Make sure you keep the coach updated to any time drops by email and CC your admissions officer also. Every little bit helps.

Thank you... Absolutely... We are updating as we go...
Thanks for the responses...;)

DS has a nomination from MOC FL2 but have not heard anything about anyone with a FL nomination being appointed yet. Keep waiting for the BFE to show up in the mail. Good luck.

FL-11 checking in here! I'm a primary nom recipient from my MOC but as of yet I don't believe there have been any appointments from my district. It's a small town and BGO's talk a lot around here.

Stay patient and congrats to your son on swimming nationally. That's a hell of an accomplishment.

When I was appointed last year my MOC called me on March 14th. Got a medical DQ at the last minute but was encouraged to reapply and hope to hear again this year in late March/early April.

Way to stay with it, you are an inspiration. I wish you the best of luck.

DS received principal nomination from MOC near Christmas last year. Appointment wasn't received until late January. Good-luck to all.

Thank you! I've gotten to spend a year at a four year university and, while fun, my heart is still with the Academy. Best of luck to you as well!

I always have to ask this question. How do you know that your DS is Board Qualified?

3Q means that you are qualified academically, CFA, and physical.

I hope that helps.

You usually get letters telling you that you are, or have passed. My DS got academic last winter, then passed his physical (DODMERB), then his CFA.

Thanks. I am familiar with the term 3Q and its meaning. My question was how does your son know that he is Board Qualified (what you refer to as 'academic'). The CGO does not send letters notifying candidates of their Board qualification status.

A follow-up Question

SuddenSam if applicant is deemed 3Q'd at the USMA is it safe to assume they are 3Q'd at all of the academies or as I think each academy has a different set of criteria? Thanks for your reply.

Each Academy makes a separate determination about qualification. You could be Board qualified at one and rejected or deferred at another.

We were informed by his BGO that he was all set and qualified and we are just waiting on word from the academy....
And again thank you for all the encouragement..;)
Happy New Year

FL. 1...DS has a Presidential, NROTC and MOC nomination. Have no word yet. Still waiting and praying...BGO said that things really pick up quickly in about a week and a half from now and BFE's start going out regularly in about two weeks and stay steady through March. After that it comes down to those 'on the bubble'. Late March and early April see the TWE, Prep schools and the wait listed. I do know of two kids in District 1 who have appointments. One boy from my DS's high school already has an appointment. Another went to a girl at a public high school near by. Stay strong Florida!!

I'm a junior in District 27 (Diaz-Balart), on the Naples side. Do you guys have any advice for the MOC in the state? More notably the Senators?
