The last few bowl games have IMHO really proved that any system that uses arbitrary "rankings" to set up the playoff is just based on gibberish. Check out yesterday: TCU annihilated Ole Miss- though in the rankings they were a good match. #12 Georgia Tech schooled #7 Mississippi State (they were still #7 despite losing 3- because they were in the SEC !) though they were ranked well below them. Boise State- which was ranked 20 Manhandled Arizona in the 1st half and hung on to beat #10 Arizona. My prediction Baylor is gonna rip Michigan State a new one- just a guess though. And when they do- people are going to wonder again why Ohio State is in the Playoff (Scoupilot will have a different perspective ) and not Baylor or TCU, and why Alabama should be #1 given that they lost to Mississippi and squeeked past Miss State .

The only way to do this is have a playoff that pits the conf winners from Big 12,Big 10, SEC, PAC12, ACC and Big East and forget the whole load of rankings nonsense.

All else aside- it will be interesting to watch today though. Lots of Beer and Wings ready for the Football onlaught!!:thumb:

There is no rhyme or reason why OSU is in the playoff...but BAMA? Oh yeah, they should be #1!!! Roll Tide!

Sorry, you were saying?

Talk about a cliffhanger- Baylor snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! :thumb:What a turnaround for Michigan State in the last quarter. Whew

beat me to it Scout....I thought at the start of the 4th quarter that Bruno was going to be right...so glad he wasn't (MSU Dec. 90)

And my mid goes to UW Madison...it's been a good football day in our house!!!

I stopped watching when Baylor scored their 41st point and led by 20 near the end of the third quarter. The E.F. Hutton Rust Belt Bowl was about to begin and I didn't want to miss a minute.

What the heck happened to Florida State? They literally just laid down and died?!

"Hey Paaaaawwwwwllll....long-time/first-time...I juss wanna say them 'Hio State boys ain't got no business on the field with the Cre-imson Tahd. We gonna beat them butts. How bad a butt-whoopin' d'yew thank it's gonna be, Paawwwwwll? I'llhangupandlissen. Rolldamntahd.

Hard to contradict that. :thumb: Been a good football week from my perspective with one of my main viewing objectives mostly accomplished- the wreck of the SEC and- the demolition of the "experts" who called almost all of them wrong this past couple of days! Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi, and Mississippi State all beat up - two of them smoked like cheap cigars, as was Florida State. Ohio State climbed up out of their QB wreckage and blew up the crediblity of every sports talking head. And Marcus Mariota showed he deserved that Heisman and Oregon showed their chops in a big way with the demolition of the Florida State myth.

And while we are at it- let's dump the use of the whole "Power Conference" thing. Boise State did a great job beating Arizona in Phoenix.
Great couple of days of college ball (I guess the Alamo Bowl is still to come but not sure I can watch anymore!)

So: as a non-expert , I predict Oregon over "The Ohio State University"!

Florida State is greatly overrated and played just well enough to pull out a win in many of their games. The first big problem is that the polls are grossly biased in favor of 'glamour' programs and no doubt the selection committee was also biased in favor of certain schools. FBS needs a logical playoff system like the other divisions but I don't ever see it happening because it would extend the season too far and be in competition with the NFL; lets just hope for now that these committees get some common sense and aren't influenced excessively by the AP poll.

Thank you, Phyllis/Legend/Jim from Tuscaloosa.
Looking forward to the show today.

The funny thing is, this is not a playoff, but 4 teams picked to play for the National Championship, by what is called a selection committee. There is already a true playoff system, in the following: FCS, Division II and Division III, just in college football alone. Let alone, there is the College Basketball Tournament, on all levels. I have been around high school and college athletics, since, I have been 15 and have pretty good knowledge base. This is all BS until college athletics is run by those with true experience in sports, not college Presidents, which still need to have a say, because they run the schools.

Lets go Ducks,
