So I took the presidential PFT (1 mile run, 1 min sit ups, 1 min crunches)
I was wondering how everyone else did on this?
I got 71 push ups
6:53 mile
74 crunches

My DS got:
40 pushups
50 sit ups
6:05 mile.

His test was administered by the ROO at the college he hopes to attend. It was at 3pm in the afternoon in Texas in late July at the football stadium. Very hot. 100+ (not that it helps his score any) After he came home from taking the test, he told us that they had a funny way of counting. He said they would repeat some of the counts. Hahaha! I told him his form must have been off on those reps.

Your son was lucky to get a taste of what every APFT that he takes will be like, this will help prepare him for ROTC when it starts. Your son's scores are more in line with APFT scores. So many new cadets start ROTC after having high numbers in PU and SU's during their PFT, only to fail their first APFT because of form. Some new cadets boast 70 to 80 PU's in one minute of the PFT, but fail to do the minimum in 2 minutes of the APFT because of form.

Form is everything.

The PFT is not the APFT. You may only take the PFT once in your life, but you will have to pass an APFT every 6 months. Push up s and form are one issue, but sit ups vs curl ups is another issue that gets many new Cadets. And running 1 mile is a little different than running two. Can't tell you how many applicants I've seen run out of gas.

If they don't believe it now, they'll learn soon enough....

Quality over quantity because in this case quality gets you quantity.

Very true! DS battles to score very close to 300. Form is evident every night and morning on floor during break.
