For us juniors that like to get a head start on the competition for nominations, I have visited my congresswoman and senators websites and all three require recommendation letters. If these letters have to be handwritten, am I going to have to ask my teachers for multiple handwritten letters? Such as ask my Calc. teacher to write three individual letters that say the same thing for the three nomination sources, or can I just make a copy and sent it to the other two. And a second question, is there anyone on these forums who is from Tennessee, specifically the TN-07 district under Marsha Blackburn? Just curious how competitive the area I live is.

Never heard of a specific request for a handwritten recommendation, although they are usually submitted separately from applicant's other material. Soemtimes they are submitted by snail mail, sometimes electronically. They should explain that.

No longer live in TN and I sure miss the best BBQ and Catfish on the planet.

Best of luck.

Do the nomination letters need to be handwritten or just addressed specifically to the congress person/VP? If they just need to be addressed to the specific congress person/VP, your reference can write the body of the letter on a word processor and use it for all of the references---he/she can then just change the address and salutation part of the letter to address it to the specific congress person or the VP.

I will reinterate what Chocolate said. You can use the same letters, just have the person who is making the recommendation plug in the different headings and salutations for each Senator/Congressman. My son's letters were typed on the computer, then each signed with a handwritten signature.

I am in Marsha's district, just recieved my noms for USAFA and USNA. All of the letters I submitted were typed. From what my ALO told me it's a fairly competitive district... Definitely send your package to your senators as well.
