Letter of Recomendation

I am a junior wanting to apply to USNA. I was confused if either USMA and/or USNA require letters of recommendation and if those letters must include a science teacher?
I am not taking math this school year (as a junior) but I could sign up to take calculus at a community college to get the credits and recommendation letter (my school only offers up to Algebra 2 and you must take the rest at a community college). Should I try to take Calculus this semester rather than in the Fall so that I can get the letter as a junior? Should it matter if I take it now or in one semester? I am also taking a physiology class at the college so would that suffice as the science recommendation letter? Thank you.

USNA requires only LOR's from your Junior year, Math and English Teachers. USNA does not ask for a science LOR so the physiology class won't matter.

Beyond that they also require your HS counselor and BGO to provide letters (all are done through the USNA portal).

I would proceed with the community college plan for calculus as that will allow you to have a junior year math instructor. I would make sure that you regularly communicate with this professor so that he/she can provide informed feedback to USNA. Skipping math in your junior year would also make you "math stale" which is not good.

On my application this year, it said junior or senior math and English teachers.

No problem! But I think your still right about taking math junior year, also your teacher can get to know you better before they write the LOR.
