Has anybody had any interactions with Glenn Merchant at DODMerb Consultants within the last couple of weeks? If so, could you PM me?

In the last couple of weeks? No.. But in the last couple of months yes.

Is that close enough?

Recent contact with Glenn Merchant?

I too am looking to see if anyone has had recent contact? I am new to forum and unable to pm. Been trying to contact him for a bit.

I have sent you a PM. I think you should be able to read it, even though you won't be able to respond.

I called and the number he provided is disconnected! I emailed and received NO answer! Is this guy scamming people? Has anyone had success using him?

I received an email from him this morning after requesting information last night...is this as far as people have gotten with him, the "I applaud you for being proactive....blah blah blah" email, give him money and not hear anything again?

As with ANY consultant or contractor, consider how much money you provide "up front" -- before you have received services.

I sent him an email and he called me back that day, on a Christmas Eve, (actually 13 months ago) and walked me detail by detail on how to fix my son's bad eye exam. He was extremely quick, thorough and proactive. he did not charge me
YMMV!!!!!

When DS was DQ by DoDMERB we researched how to figure out the best course of action. After we did all we could do to put the waiver process into action ( gather medical records, seek out retired military Dr.'s to do an exam), I ran across DoDMERB Consultants. I mailed Glenn and he called me in a couple of hours. I told him of our situation and what we had done to that point to make a strong case for a waiver. Glenn was very supportive and confirmed we were on the right track. Never once asked for money nor did he try to sell us on his services. Just my .002 cents.

Thank you all! His email was in my inbox when I got woke up this morning after requesting info last night around 9:00. I was very impressed and it was a great email but then I saw Richard's post and had doubts.

DS #2 is a sophomore with history of fractures and stitches galore, so my intent to reach out to Glenn is help with one of his fractures that is an automatic DQ (as far as I can tell from the DODMERB regulation guide), as well as the sum of his medical record. I really want some advice if we should continue this dream that is the military for him. I know you don't know unless you apply, however, if his medical history is going to end that dream, I would almost rather know sooner rather than later (as in another 2 years).

Vista, I think you mean you "Initiated a private conversation"

I spoke with Glenn this morning. Very nice guy. Very helpful. He answered all of my questions and gave me a course of action, prior to even discussing a contract. As others have said in other threads, this is a great website with an abundance of helpful experience and opinions, but if you need specific help or guidance, which in my son's case, I feel we do, Glenn seems to be our answer. So far, I highly recommend him!

We are just finishing up a very positive experience with Dr. Merchant. DD was diagnosed with psoriasis at age 8. No recurring issues other than some dry skin here and there. DD reported psoriasis on medical history and was summarily DQ'd. Hoped for waiver from USNA. Waiver denied ~2 wks ago. In panic, tracked down Dr. Merchant (took a little doing) and he helped us chart a path to address the issue. DD saw another dermatologist who re-examined her, submitted letter from doc and records to USNA and DoDMERB. DD got a call from USNA admission this week saying waiver granted. While many on this board may look at this simplistic chronology and say "DUH!" you didn't need Dr. Merchant for that", we actually made missteps on our own that complicated getting the issue resolved. Bottom line- Dr. Merchant was incredibly professional, supportive, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him to anyone with DoDMERB issues. I don't believe my DD would have gotten her waiver without his guidance. My only regret was not utilizing his services earlier in the application process, which would have saved considerable heart ache over the past few months.
