Post Night- Woot Woot!

OK, it's a parent thing... old grads can sigh in disgust and move on! (But we'd rather you chime in with your parent hat on)

But post night tonight, exciting times for parents and cadets!

Mixed feelings, want the best opportunity for the future LT, but also see that lower priority choice closer to home with a solid unit would work out as well.

Any other parents standing by for updates this evening?
 
Does USMA have a video feed like USNA has for ship selection night tonight? I noticed on the USNA forum that a link is posted for a video stream of their event.
 
Not aware of one, and unlike branch night, post night is done separately by branch. And some branches do not post for some time. (Aviation and MI? Others?)

Usually Pub Affairs and other staff do make pics and sometimes videos are posted.
 
Plebe mom here, so my DS has a couple of years, but I'm always interested to see how the process works. Good luck to your cadet!
 
What I would tell my kid if s/he got a post that wasn't high on their list:

There are solid units and poor units on every post in the country. It is what you make of it. I actually kind of like taking an under performing organization and helping them reach their potential. That is so much more satisfying.

If they got their dream post, I would simply tell them Congratulations!

Same thinking. They will change posts multiple times, so this is just the start of their journey.

One of DS's mentors told him that being the best 2LT he can is far more important than getting into the optimal unit/post in terms of career.

Then again, others indicated this is one of the few times they will get to heavily influence their post, so might as well try to get your preference! But it's just the start.
