Summer Vacation

Looking at the academic calendar for Kings Point, it doesn't seem like there's a lot of room for vacation in the summer since classes start in July. Is there any sort of real vacation that's longer than a couple of days in between academic years?

Your summer vacation time will vary heavily on the sea split you are in and one participation (or not) in Indoc. It could be as short as non-existent or as long as a couple weeks

Your sea term is your "vacation". Get out as fast as you can and get as many days your first sea term as you can. I overloaded my first sea year (I came back to school 3 days late) and got out as fast as I could my second. By the time I finished my sea days I had almost two months before I had to report back to school.

I don't recall getting much "Vacation" time. I had 6 weeks between high school graduation and reporting for Indoc. Sailed B split and was home for about 3 weeks before signing on. I think I had about two days or less between ships, and on the last 3rd class voyage the company went bankrupt and we were sized in Manila. Finally released just before Christmas. I think I had two days at home before flying back to school. About the same for my second sea term, and then about 4 or 5 weeks between 2nd and 1st Class years. . . Personally, I didn't think that vacation was that important. At the time, any time away from school was a vacation. . . .
