CVW questions

If I have been invited to a junior CVW does that automatically mean that I will not be able to be invited for a CVW when I am a senior? Also, how many people usually get invites to junior CVW?
 
It would be extremely unusual to be invited again as a senior. However, if you are a recruited athlete, you might also be invited for an "official visit" your senior year.

USNA is now focusing spring CVWs more on juniors (vs. seniors). If memory serves, maybe 200 students participate in a WE. Not sure what percentage will now be juniors -- probably the later in the year, the higher the percentage of juniors.
 
DS had a weekend visit as a recruited athlete in February of junior year, and then (once no longer being recruited) was invited to CVW senior year when he received his appointment. He's looking forward to seeing the Yard again outside the context of a possible spot on a varsity team - it'll be quite different.
 
My DS went in September and had a great time and learned a lot. Can any tea leaves be read due to being invited for the CVW. In correspondence it did say that they would not ask us to spend the money to visit it they were not very serious about our son. In essence they said we like him, does he like us? Come and visit and check it out. He is 3Qd and has two nominations to USNA, and it is his first choice and he is a senior.
 
It is usually a good sign, BUT . . . every year there are more than a few folks just on these boards who attended CVW and received a TWE. So, it's a good sign but keep it in perspective.

Gosh...I hope not. My DS turned down his offer because the weekend fell on his Senior homecoming weekend and had already asked a girl to the dance. Didn't want to cancel on her (honorable) and he had already been to NASS. He KNEW he wanted USNA with all his heart. Did not need CVW to know that. I really hope it doesn't backfire on him.

It won't backfire on him. DS got the same invite last year and couldn't go due to varsity game conflict. Had attended NASS as well the previous summer. Got his appointment about this time. Nice if you can make it but no swaet if you can't. Hope this helps.
 
93sir, I wouldn't think for a minute that your DS would be hurt in any way for not going CVW. He went to NASS after all, my DS did not. Good luck to you and your son.
