Hi!

A few months ago I got the NROTC scholarship for my top school. In an email I recieved shortly after that I was told that I could place my name on up to 3 waiting lists (I guess if you don't get into your top college).
If you put your name on a waiting list and get an offer are you obligated to accept that offer?
I want to be sure before I do anything. Thanks!

I've never even heard of that, which is a far cry from saying it doesn't happen.

Your scholarship notification came with some instructions. My DS' paperwork (4 years old) states:

1. "Requesting a place on a wait list does not remove you from the school at which you were originally placed. If for any reason you cannot be moved from one of the wait lists, your scholarship will remain at your assigned school."

2. "You will not be moved from the wait list until you have been accepted at the university (or approved cross-town) and have returned the acceptance questionnaire accepting the scholarship."

If today's paperwork is similar, I would think you would not be obligated to accept the offer.
