Triple Qualified?

I just checked my portal and saw that I am qualified medically, and I am 99% sure I am academically qualified, but I was wondering if they would notify me whether or not I am triple qualified. Or just how that works. Also I "completed" my application in mid-Jan because USAFA wanted me to retake my CFA, so I was wondering about when I would find out if I got in.

USAFA typically doesn't use the term 'triple qualified'. You will find out any time from now to June 25th. Typically most notifications are end of March to early April. Thinking positive thoughts for you and all the others still waiting. It makes for a longgg Spring.
 
The 3rd part of the triple qualified you speak of, is the CFA. The fact that the academy wanted you to retake it, means you failed it the first time. So as of that date, you weren't triple qualified.

Next, the fact that the academy wanted you to "RETAKE" the CFA is a good sign. It's not an automatic that if you fail, you get to retake it. Retaking it is "By Invitation Only". And being invited to Retake it means the academy really does want you. However, that is not an AUTOMATIC. So even if you retook the CFA and passed it the 2nd time, doesn't mean an automatic appointment. It simply means that the academy can now at least consider you. With a failing CFA, they couldn't even consider you. But being invited to RETAKE the CFA is definitely a positive thing.

As for finding out anything, I suggest contacting your ALO. If your new scores were entered and the academy put them into your application, then your ALO should be able to see if you passed. S/He won't know any of the scores or even the overall scoring; but S/He should be able to see that you passed. Be careful however. Sometimes it takes a while to update the portal. Your ALO might only see the 1st CFA attempt where it says you were BELOW STANDARDS. Now, whether or not your ALO will look into this for you, I don't know. Most will, but S/He may be very busy. Most ALO's do this as a part time job. We all have "Real" jobs that we do too.

Thanks, Christcorp. I didn't realize that was the case. I thought it was an automatic retake, and I am glad to know that it was a little more selective.
 
This year, I think, was a bit different then the past years. In the past (with my other 2 applicants), it was just as CC described, but this year, On my daughters application instructions it said ( I am paraphrasing) if you take it by Dec 31 and don't pass, USAFA will automatically request you to retake it by January 31. If you take it for the first time after Dec 31, any requests by the Academy to retake is on a case by case bases as determined by the Academy.

I am familiar with this because my dd had her CFA sent from NASS to USAFA and her Admissions counselor said if he put it in the system, it would automatically kick out a request to retake because her flexed arm hang was too short. She decided not to have it entered and then took it in mid January and did pullups instead and improved on everything else so she passed.

Not sure if it's the same for all, but I do know of an individual who failed the cfa and didn't get to retake it. There may be more to it. Usually it's based on your application. If the academy thinks you're a viable candidate, they'll ask you to retake it. But like I said, I do know of some failures that didn't get to retake. It depends on the rest of your application.
