Fellow Applicants, what's your plan B?

I like a little optimism despite some hard odds. It's kind of fun to realize no matter what you'll be alright. Plus it's nice distraction from the seemingly endless wait. My plan B is as follows

NROTC Marine Option (hopefully with a scholarship, hasn't been decided yet) to any of the following:
Villanova
Wisconsin- Madison
University of Illinois
Boston University
College of the Holy Cross

Navy or not, I'll be able to start training for my lifelong dream as an officer in the Marine Corps. Don't sweat it guys, it'll work out. Post your plan B!

You like snow! Great Schools, great backup plan. DS has several great options, but USNA can't be beat!

My son is at UW Madison (navy option). Good unit....and lots of snow. :)

His plan B turned out to be a great plan. All the best!

I'm doing AROTC at the University of Washington. I ended up picking Army ROTC over AF and Marine NROTC.

Either that or maybe one of the other four Academies!

My DS is getting super excited about plan B. He likes to say that he has two plan A's. He has already put a deposit down on the dorm of his choice at Florida State University and will cheer for a national championship team! He is a strong coed cheerleader and is excited about cheering for a Division I school. If he gets a TWE, he will be a Navy ROTC college programer and commission, like his father, when he graduates. Go Navy! Go Noles! It's in God's hands and he knows the decision will be by design.

I have a friend at Holy Cross in NROTC and he absolutely loves it...as for my plan B, I am a college reapplicant at Ohio State University already so that's my plan B.

My DS is looking at Alabama, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss as plan B's. He went ahead and finished his AFROTC application and had an interview a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea how ROTC works, seems a lot more complicated than the academies, and that is saying something. He wants USNA first, however, if that does not work out he wants an AFROTC option. While interviewing the AFROTC Lt. Col told him he would have given him the "commanders scholi" if he had interviewed a couple of weeks earlier. I have no idea what that means. What I am seeing from DS is that the longer this goes on, the more he thinks about attending a traditional public school. Frustration is beginning the set in.

NROTC Scholarship at RPI and then reapplying next year if I get the TWE. (Fingers crossed that none of us do!)

Many eons ago my husband did NROTC at RPI and a 2016 mid was a re-applicant also doing NROTC at RPI-- is really burning it up at USNA now!

Oh that's great! Yeah, I'm super excited for next year no matter what happens.

My DD has been accepted at USNA, Marquette and University of San Francisco. He is definitely accepting at USNA, but if something happens, he is going to Marquette, where he has one scholarship and is in competition for others, and then he's applying for NROTC scholarship next year -- he was too late this year. [Not sure if that's possible to do, but his focus is being an officer in the Marine Corps.]

DD's plan B is engineering major at University of Florida on a 4-year NROTC scholarship.

You can apply for a scholarship if you are at a unit if you haven't already

Thanks Hopefulacademyguy. He started the NROTC application process but was told by his recruiter that he was too late for this year. So, if the Academy doesn't work out for some reason, he's hoping to re-apply next year, probably at Marquette.

I was accepted to the USMA, but USNA is my first choice. If something happens to me I am going to Loyola University in Chicago. I have a full tuition scholarship there. My parents paid the deposit to hold my spot. I was honest with Loyola and told them I am also applying to Service Academies. They were happy to take the $500 deposit!!!

I saw a table from a CNA report about USMC ROTC officer accessions.
the largest top five are Citadel, Texas A&M, VMI, Villanova and Notre Dame. that was from the early 2000s.
but any ROTC unit with a large Semper Fi group. Also with a MECEP contingent.
