I have searched for ages and can not find a packing list for BCT, I hate doing things last minute so I try to do them early, so I assume maybe they tell you you can't post it for others. Anyway, since I can't find It, can someone at least tell me when I should expect to see it in my portal?

Aslo, what are conditional appointments. I heard everyone gets that, I guess it shows later because it hasn't in my portal. Nothing has really changed since I accepted my appointment and turned in my background check stuff. What does a conditional appointment mean? Are they bad? I am not a trouble maker or anything, never even had a speeding ticket. But I did sign up for a very difficult senior year. I have AP Chemistry, AP Stas, Psychology and JROTC. So far all A's but its hard work. Am I worrying about nothing? I guess its the conditional thing that concerns me. I'd hate to later struggle in a class and lose my appointment.

There is tons of information on here about packing lists. It was started in a thread somewhere already for USAFA and there is one done every year. Use the search function. They will send a packing list also. You will be fine academically as long as you don't do anything ridiculous. As long as you keep it at As and Bs, there will be no questions. Even a C, probably won't raise eyebrows. Straight Cs or throw in a D or F, then yes it may catch someone's attention. Just keep doing what you are doing, don't get hurt, have fun, stay out of trouble and get in shape. You do those things you will get to I day with no issues. Relax and seriously have some fun!

Thank you, I've found a few of those threads but some of them are for summer seminar. I'll keep looking. Again, thank you!

The packing list will be pretty minimal, as you are issued just about everything, also it may change slightly from year to year, so there is no need to prepare until they send you the official list.

Out of curiosity (not an appointee so I don't want to count my chickens before they're hatched ;) ), when does USAFA generally send that info out? Is there a lot of paperwork to do before you go, or is it pretty much just a packing list?

That's part of my question. Does anyone know round about when I should expect my apointee kit in my portal? My ALO is presenting me with my appointment at my high school awards night (I'm so nervous I'm the first to USAFA and first female to a military academy in my schools history) but that isn't until may and I'm not exactly sure what all he is presenting me with so I'm not sure if he's giving me a physical appointee kit and that's a long way out. I hear it has a work out regime in it so I figured it would come soon.

If my memory serves me correctly, I didn't get the appointee kit in the mail until the March-April time frame. There is a substantial amount of paperwork to complete, with the biggest bear being the questionnaire for your security clearance. The appointment presentation is usually just a certificate I believe.

Congrats to appointees....but seriously, relax. Enjoy the time you have left before you're swamped with all the paperwork. I know you're just eager to get started, but trust me, you'll be filling out paperwork and responding to emails for a really long time. No need to worry about deadlines for things you can't control yet. :thumb:

Annddddddddd don't fail your classes, get arrested, or break your leg.

Thanks you guys! I think I'm just anxious, you go from one level of waiting to another haha. And questionnaire for security clearance? So it is more than just signing the consent form?

You'll have PLENTY of time to get that packing list together, believe me! The thing that takes the longest is the security clearance form (as mentioned above). You'll fill that out and bring it with you. It will ask about finances, issues with law enforcement, who you know, who they can contact to ask about you, have you traveled abroad, etc. It's pretty detailed and the reason they have you fill it out ahead of time.

As for clothing and such - almost everything is provided. You'll bring underwear and bra, some bathroom essentials. If I can give some advice -- PACK LIGHT! You will be carrying everything all day long. In your left hand. While being yelled at that you're not going fast enough. :)

Thank you, all your advice in various threads has been super helpful. I assume my security clearance should go through good haha, the most trouble I've been in is getting a C in precal last year. I'm not much of a trouble maker or stupid fun haver. I think my game plan for then until now is to do what I always do, school, gym and home with some Netflix, best way to stay out of trouble!

Yes it's slightly more than just signing a consent form. SF 86 is 127 pages... Granted you probably won't have information to put down for every single page, but it's still a national security clearance so it's a pretty detailed packet to fill out.

Ohh thanks for letting me know. I should've figured.

PS if anyone responds and I don't message back, I'm not ignoring your feedback, I just had all of my wisdoms removed at once today! But keep posting I love the help and I'll check it as I can.

The Appointee Kit is "customized" for each appointee and consists of between 22 and 28 forms and/or actions that must be completed. Some of the forms are quite lengthy and some of the "actions" require visits to doctors, pharmacies, and clothing professionals (for uniform fitting). All appointees must be 100% current on immunizations (no exceptions). To answer your question, it is far more than just a packing list (although such a list is part of the kit).

Good to know! Thanks so much! So if you are appointed after March 1 (as I am very much hoping the case will be for me!), do you get the appointee kit in your portal instantly with your appointment, or does it take a while for them to "customize" yours and send it to you?
Thanks so much for the info!

Thanks so much for the info!

After March 1 the kits will be available one or two days after the new appointee accepts his or her appointment.
