Does West Point like the SAT better than the ACT or do they not care which one someone takes? Also, for super scoring, if I get an 800 math/500 reading/500 writing (Just an example I didn't actually get this) and then I take the ACT and get a 30 in every section, can they take the 800 from the math on the SAT and change it to a 36 math on the ACT? Or can they not super score between tests?

Frenzy - literally 30 seconds spent on the USMA website will give you the answer to your questions.
I already check the website before asking my question, I could not find the answer to any of the questions I just asked.

I received my appointment yesterday. I only took the SAT.
I've taken both and I am about the same at both. I just want to concentrate on one or the other instead of trying to study for both, and I want to study for the one that West Point wants if West Point wants one more than the other.

They don't care which one you take. Take whichever one you do better at.

Step 6 does not answer my questions. All Step 6 tells me is that West Point requires me to take the SAT or the ACT and that they superscore. It does not tell me if they like the SAT better or if they like the ACT better or if they don't care which you have. It also does not say that West Point will super score across tests(ie take an 800 math from the SAT and add it to one's ACT score), all it says is "West Point only considers your highest sub-scores". From that it is impossible for one to definitively say that they will take the highest sub-score across tests based off of the information given; since the SAT does not have a science or an English section, I wasn't sure if they would super score across tests. Which brings up another question, does SAT writing = ACT English?

That question was asked during a recent Admissions briefing in my state - the Regional Commander's answer was NO - do not superscore between SAT/ACT. He stated that Navy does superscore between SAT/ACT.

Darn that is disappointing, do you know what Air Force does?

DS took both early on. He like the ACT better and took it some more. Never superscored his ACT as he just got better. Just got appointment to USMA. DD took both early on two years ago. She like the SAT and took it some more. They superscored her SAT. She is 3/c at USNA. There is no preference.
Highly recommend you START taking both early on in you Junior year.

Interesting..........Our Regional Commander indicated that they do super score between the two tests.

I've already taken both and I'm a Junior. Studied really hard for the PSAT so I could qualify for national merit, got a 211(thankfully that usually qualifies in my state). Thought my studying from the PSAT would carry over to my SAT(a lot of it did) and didn't study at all for the SAT, got a 2060. Took the ACT with absolutely 0 preparation, got a 31(could have been higher but I didn't know how to manage my time in the science section and had to leave the last 6 questions blank).

I like the ACT better mainly because I'm awful at vocab and there is very little vocab on the ACT and it's all fairly basic vocab, but I haven't given up on the SAT yet.
My testing endurance is also really bad, and the essay at the beginning took a ton of energy; by the end of the SAT I was basically just filling in bubbles. If I get a really high score in a section one time and I take the ACT/SAT again, I'm considering just leaving that entire section blank and just resting during that section so I'm not burned out in the other sections.

Step 6 does not answer my questions

Step 6 answers your question exactly. If they had a preference, it would be stated here. It clearly says you can take either.
Um have you read my questions? I didn't ask if I can take either, and who knows wether they would clearly state if one is prefered or not, I'm trying to get the right information, I'm not trying to guess what they were attempting to imply, and I have read it like 10 times and I don't see how it is implied....... -_- Harvard prefers the SAT but does not explicitly state so on its website, it also says take the SAT or the ACT, so making the assumption that they don't care which you take would be extremely risky...... And right now people are unsure of the answer to one of my questions so clearly the answer isn't as obvious as you are making it out to be.....

I don't want to argue over something so meaningless and I'm sorry if you feel that I shouldn't have asked the questions I did. I still firmly believe that they are great questions that I couldn't have answered on my own by simply going in the USMA website.

Interestng indeed. To expand on what my regional commander said, he stated something along the line that it will too complicated to superscore between the two tests. From what I see on the admission database as a FFR, one of the evaluation is based on SAT or ACT.

Just out of curiously, Frenzy, why do you think Harvard prefers the SAT? I have it on at least decent authority that that's not the case at all. They may get more applicants who take the SAT, but that's primarily geographically driven. They are equally happy with both tests.
