Hoping for good news for my DD and looking forward to being able to plan out the summer.

My summer seminar was waitlisted until May, heh. I lucked out in the end but it was excruciating.

I had a blast. You guys will, too.

Yes, Summer Seminar is the summer between junior and senior year. DS attended and it confirmed that USAFA is where he wants to be :)!

Waiting to hear as well! DD will be attending NASS session 1, but waiting to hear on Friday if she will be flying across the country to USAFASS…these 2 days can't go fast enough! Good luck to all!

Good luck guys! SS was one of the best experiences of my life to this point! I really hope you make it! Just remember, regardless of whether you make it or not, it has NO bearing on future chances of admission! I am so happy for you guys that your wait is almost over!

Yes please take into account that summer seminar is an awesome opportunity but, as baileydb said it is not an indicator of admission. I was declined a spot into summer seminar but was direct entry and now on my way to completing my first year here at the Academy. I would encourage everyone interested to try and attend this program, but if your not selected try and still make a trip out here, so you can get a real glimps as to what it is all about. There has been many cadets that have left for the reason of not knowing what there getting themselves into, make sure your not one of them.

hahah awesome!

well my DD and I are going crazy waiting for results! good luck to all..

I will join in with the anxious waiters as well. My DD is biting her nails for Friday's news. She selected for the NASS session one but really wants the AFASS. She can only go to one and will go to NASS if she must, but she is AF all the way. Good luck to you all!

Same boat exactly! Just learned of a cheer camp at USAFA that she may attend if not chosen for SS.

My DD's other option is the USAFA SAME camp, which is an engineering and construction camp. She really wants to get to the academy this summer. If she does not select for either, we will just have to go and visit.

I believe they also have some great athletic camps... when I was at SS, we had tons of kids walking around from the other camps and it seemed like they were also having a great time. I definitely recommend looking into this, in the worst case scenario that you don't make it to SS (though I have my fingers crossed for all of you--I remember the anxious waiting process last year!).

Also waiting anxiously... can't wait to see if I get this amazing opportunity.

If you are interested in engineering, try the SAME camp at USAFA. Society of American Military Engineers. You have to be nominated by your local chapter then selected for USAFA. Great experience and you also get to talk with the cadets and tour the academy. More fun, not BCT like, but learn a lot.

SS wasn't super BCT like either, only for one day. I was actually expecting it to be waaaay more intense than it was. In actuality, it was challenging, but still super fun! My advice: do NOT fall asleep in one of the many briefings. They call you out! And you get very little sleep haha!

I think I actually got more or the same amount of sleep there as I do here, heh. Then I research about the Academy and people are waking up later than I do now (I wake up at five, they said they're up at six to get ready for breakfast) and I'm like, "Okay, this is fine."

Lol I got far less sleep than normal! I won't lie, staying awake during briefings was a challenge. Oh boy, if I get in BCT is gonna be hard lol!!!

I'd suggest your DD apply for the SAME camp no matter if she gets in SS or not. My son attended both last year. He loved the SAME camp and the SAME Chapter that sponsored him paid for his Airfare and half the camp fee. It was really a great camp.
