Hello from Northern Mississippi/Memphis area

I cannot believe that I have not seen this site before. I have been gathering information for my son for nearly a year about the academies. I truly wish I had found this site earlier, it answers all of our questions.

My son received his nominations to USAFA and USNA from Congressman Nunnelee who represents the 1st district in Mississippi, and the USNA from Senator Cochran in early and mid-December respectively. We are all very excited and proud.

We have visited both USNA and USAFA as a family this fall. Both are fine institutions, with amazing young men and women, faculties, administrations and employees.

Good luck to all of those nominated and appointed, it is such a great honor.

Some tips for you as a new poster.
1. If you are having problems understanding acronyms....look on the Community feedback forum (bottom of home page)
2. Sometimes posters multiple post on several forums....there is a nomation forum and a DoDMERB forum too.
~~ If it is a DoDMERB question you are probably better off asking on the DoDMERB section because kp2001 and Mabry are AD doctors.
~~ If it so a MOC nomination question...you might find the answer faster on the Nomination section.
3. This site has great posters that have been on the rollercoaster ride, so don't be afraid to ask any question.
4. You will find a great support system here if that is something you desire. See #4.

Great to see someone else from Mississippi! I was starting to feel a bit lonely...

My son got his USNA appointment the end of December. I understand there were four appointments to the Naval Acedemy from Mississippi so far this year. There is one other from the coast, but I haven't heard where in the state the others reside. Has your son heard anything else about his status?

We haven't heard anything about USNA or USAFA. I have not heard of any other appointments other than your son which you and I discussed and the one of the coast.
