Time to Panic?

  • I've heard nothing, no BFE, no TWE. I saw that post saying that most appointments have gone out. I know that it's not over till you get a TWE, but is this a bad sign?

It isn't over until its over - and then it isn't really over, it may just look a little different than you thought it would. From knowledge, (sea) power. Believe we will meet the needs of the Navy.

We are trying to figure this out...is it s positive thing or a negative thing if my DS hasn't heard anything yet?

DS is not in the panic mode nor are we as his parents- we are in the planning mode, putting deposits down, he's visiting his recent accepted to schools and asking about lacrosse and ROTC brigades at each.

He called MOC office just now and they had nothing for him. For privacy reasons, couldn't say if there had been appointments on the slate(totally agree with this).

We'll know for sure one way or the other when the envelope arrives, but for now, he's moving on to the next page of the story he's writing.

Good luck to those still waiting.

If the "fat lady hasn't sung yet" then you have to consider it a positive outcome. The odds "may" be longer but odds don't matter if your DS ends up getting the BFE. Hang in there and make alternate plans concurrently.

No reason for anybody to panic, anything you read right now is pure speculation. My DS first choice is USNA, they offered and he accepted a CVW in September. USNA said that if they were not serious about DS they would not have asked him to take the CVW. He has been appointed as of last week at USAFA, his second choice. I find it hard to believe that after everything we have been told, and being appointed by USAFA, that USNA will not come through.

I am just not agreeing with the "wide spread panic".

DO NOT PANIC. I didn't receive my BFE until mid April
Thank you for the DO NOT PANIC notice. We have a family friend who didn't receive his appointment until early June a few years ago! Also, I agree that every day that goes by, and nothing arrives, it's at least another day without a TWE. In our area (Central Massachusetts) I am thrilled that my son hasn't received anything because we have only heard about TWE's arriving in this district! Two candidates that we know received their TWE's about two weeks ago, then this past Saturday a big, big legacy candidate (both parents and 2 siblings attended USNA) also received his TWE! My son looks at the TWE for the 3 of them as another chance for him. I refuse to believe that there are hardly ANY appointments left. So I would like to thank all the people who are sharing positive stories like receiving appointments from previous years in mid April, etc. Let's keep the faith at least for a few more weeks! :) Any more positive stories? Would LOVE to hear them!

Our DS received his offer of appointment on May 15th, 4 years ago! He had been in the national pool.

I haven't seen anyone suggest that hardly any are left (unless I missed it). I started a thread about many of the decisions being made. To me the phrase "many" means that there are lots of slots left. If there were hardly any left I think they would have said "most", or even "nearly all" or something similar. Even if 80% of offers have gone out that would leave 300 offers still to be made. With many TWE's already having gone out, I still think all the remaining candidates are in the game and have reasonable chances.

The "very few left" came from another thread. When I wrote: "I refuse to believe that there are hardly ANY appointments left…" I was just trying to make a strong statement myself that I refuse to feel discouraged…at least for a few more weeks. Many have sounded very worried and scared and panicked, and I was trying to give a little feeling of hope to those people! :) Thank you for your thought of [still] "in the game"! :)

Thank you all for your words of encouragement and for keeping me sane! This forum is a life saver! The waiting game is so difficult and there are times where I think I'm the only one who hasn't gotten a decision yet, but reading all your stories and knowing that other people are in the same boat as me is very reassuring. :) Good luck to everyone! And hopefully we'll see each other at I-day. :)

We too, appreciate the valuable info shared on the forum. Thank you for the insight and we will remain positive! Good luck to others as well.

Old roommate never received a TWE but when he didn't hear anything for a while going into June, he assumed he wasn't getting an appointment. He got appointed a week before I-Day, you read it right folks! They called him and said "Johnny is out, you're in. Can you make it next week?"
