if i took an Intro to Computer Technology course as my dual credit will the academy accept this?

If you mean accept for transfer credit, almost certainly not. It's very hard to get out of the introductory computer science course (which is about 50% programming in Raptor and 50% general computer knowledge and terminology from what I remember). You may be able to talk your way into an honors version of the intro class but I'm not sure what all your intro to computer tech class will entail.

If you're looking at majoring in compsci, right now the first majors class is a programming class in Python. If you happen to have college credit in Python you may be able to validate that class, but the department will probably be fairly resistant until you can prove you know your stuff.

What if I take Computer Science AP?

My guess is that they would put you in the honors section of the intro to compsci class here, assuming you did well in the AP class. The AP class is Java, if I recall.

They might, not sure if AF accepts AP exams for validation for that course. Anyone know if they accept that AP exam to validate? If they do, what score is required?

They can (its possible but not garunteed) accept validation scores. (The following info is provided via my appointee kit and I am simply an appointee.) It states that it is possible for Math (Calculus or stats), English, physics, chemistry, biology and or history to be validated but for all of them you have to score a 4 or a 5. Some test you must score a 5 like English. If you don't know, a 5 is the highest score achievable. Even if you score a four or a five, the course is also validated by the placement tests I have been told we will take during basic. I looked, but I didn't see anything about validating OR transferring computer credits and all the classes I mentioned above have potential to be validated or transferred. To transfer credits it says you must have earned an A- at an accredited four year college. Hope that helps some. Like I said, they don't even mention computer sciences so you may have to take it again.

You almost certainly will. That's not a class people typically validate.
I agree, they break down validating each subject area or transferring credits for each are and computers isn't even mentioned so I assume it is not a class you can get out of taking.

Some classes at the Academy also serve to fulfill core competencies of being a military officer. For instance, I came in with a Philosophy of Ethics course already completed but it did not fulfill the requirements of the AFA's Ethics course. If you want to validate a class then expect to need either a 5 on an AP exam or an A on a college transcript.

To my knowledge these core classes can be validated:

Calc 1
Calc 2
Calc 3 (This one might be iffy)
Behavioral Science
Economics
Philosophy of Logic
English 111
Chem 100 & 200
Physics 1 & 2

Through personal experience, these classes cannot be validated:

English 200
Philosophy of Ethics

Maybe this will help you some. I have and am still taking various AP classes and I know that even if I work my butt off and score a 4 or a 5, there is still the potential for it not to be validated. I am still happy I took the classes though because they are freshman college level classes so at least when I am at the USAFA and I am sitting in these classes that I will try to validate, I will have seen the material and it won't be as "scary", for lack of better words, as it may have been if I didn't take those AP classes. Now when I get there I can stress a little less about the classes I've taken the AP version of and focus harder on the ones I have never taken like physics. So, even if they don't accept it, at least you have gotten your feet wet in that area.

Carlin, might I suggest you stop worrying about what USAFA will "accept." Should you gain a nom and appointment, THEY will determine what you have to take and what you do not. You will take a bunch of tests in the first few days of BCT and ok, you may pass out of Calc I to Calc II but be prepared, it is NOT an AP class.

Just take the hardest classes you can and do the best you can
