Hello all,

I am still on Hold at KP (Been on Hold since Dec). I am wondering how many Holds typically get appointments. I'm not asking for a specific statistic, but do most Holds get in, or should I start mentally gearing myself for Plan B (Mass. Maritime with SSOP)? I'm from CA if that makes any difference.

I also have kept my grades up (Around a 4.1, doing well in both Pre-Calc and AP Physics), and I recently sent in an extra LOR and updates on my extra-curricular activities.

I can't answer your question, but if you aren't sure why you have a Hold, please Call the Admissions Office and ask. They did have some glitches when updating/not updating my DS' portal and I feel like they may have overlooked it if not brought to their attention.

I agree to call the Academy and inquire about your hold-
I think many incoming students are placed on hold briefly before they are accepted. (although some holds will eventually be denied). ~ There are many reasons why a student could be on hold (are they waiting for everything to be turned in, have they sent out first acceptances and are waiting for numbers before they send out more, are they looking at your file and potentially giving the acceptance but waiting until other files are looked at first).
Best of luck to you...

There is another thread that some have clarified the status options... Application steps, I think. You might want to check it.

My DD just received her appointment today. I'm pretty sure she will be declining as she also got into NAPS. She's hoping this'll open a slot for another candidate. Best of luck to you!

I am visiting the Academy later this week. I have been on Hold since December, so could I expect to hear something from Admissions while I am there? This is my second visit. Could I ask admissions about my status or would that be inappropriate?

USNavy2019, I don't think it would be inappropriate at all. Secondly, I think you're wise to visit. Best of luck!

My DS is currently on Hold as well. Earlier this week DoDMERB assigned the USMMA as the primary 'Agency'. I can only assume USMMA made the request because we didn't. Do you think this is a good indicator a decision will be made soon - one way or the other?

USNavy2019, hang in there. Definitely visit Admissions to inquire about your situation. My DS received his offer to NMMI in May a couple of years ago. With the shortages in the Admissions office, I am sure they may be a bit behind than normal. There are a number of LOAs that go out with folks turning KP down, thereby opening slots. My DS's class was one of the smallest in many years due to renovations of barracks. Most of the renovations have been completed, therefore there will be more offers than the classes of 2017 and 2018 had. If you get to speak with anyone at admissions, definitely let them know you would be interested in a prep school offer to NMMI.

You can call Admissions and inquire, I was showing "Hold" a week after I received my appoitment
