Hi, I'm currently a junior in high school and I am in Air Force JROTC. I have a few questions regarding JROTC nominations:
If I receive a nomination but I am not one of the 20 slated what happens? Am I placed on the national waiting list like I would be from an MOC nomination, or is it just over since I was not picked for one of the 20 spots?
My unit CURRENTLY has the distinguished unit award, which I believe allows my Senior Aerospace Science instructor to nominate me at all of the academies(correct me if I'm wrong about this please). However, I'm not sure if we will have this award in the next school year. I'm not sure if this is true for all JROTC units, but for mine we set 6 goals at the beginning of each year and if we succeed in all of them we receive the distinguished unit award. I don't want to sound negative, but this year it looks like we are going to fail one of the goals. Since my unit is CURRENTLY a distinguished unit, can my instructor nominate for West Point and the Naval Academy if I ask him before this school year ends?
Is it difficult to receive a nomination or am I pretty much guaranteed to get one if the form gets filled out?
How do they determine who gets the 20 spots? Do they just take the cadets with the highest WCSs?
Is there a form online for the Air Force Academy that I am supposed to print out and bring to my instructor to fill out? I found forms for the USMA and Naval Academy, but I can't find any for the Air Force Academy.
