i know this is a little of topic but could someone post up a monthly menu of the food at west point? I just want to see what the daily food is and the rotation. I remember searching it up and finding it a couple month ago but somehow it has mysteriously disappeared.

I'm sorry if i reiterated my question wrong, its not so much about learning the menu, but i will confess that the food in USMA will have a significance, albeit a small significance, to which service academy i will like to attend. i know its a bit premature, but i think its more of a personal whim lol

Your choice between USNA and USMA should come down to whether you want to serve in the Army or Navy/Marine Corps. Not the food....

It sounds like the OP is just curious about what (s)he'll be eating for four years at either SA. Their comment about the menu's relative "small significance" is probably a good indicator their decision to go to USMA or USNA won't come down to the fact that USMA serves chicken crispitos and congo bar and USNA serves whatever the heck USNA serves (though, if it does, c'mon: crispitos). ;)

Can a current cadet just send the guy the current meal list from USCC?

I'm concerned that a young person not only is so sure he or she will be invited to attend both, but would even remotely weigh what's for lunch in the decision-making process. But then again, if there's one thing this board has taught me it's that there's no teaching any of these candidates anything about making adult decisions.

Don't remember your original "iteration" of the question, but you are joking, right?

This forum is filled with posts from young men and women who would eat their own guts, for an appointment or ROTC Scholarship and an opportunity to serve.

I have read that USNA has a higher incidence of scurvy, but there is that rum ration after all.;)

Calm down everyone. The kid is just curious about the food and you are taking is comments way out of context. His decision about the academies won't come down to the food, but it is good to know.

People on this forum are so judgmental.

No, we're not. We're taking it just as he/she presented it. That's the only context.

Based on past posts luckydoggy1234 is a high school junior attending NASS and(?) SLE this summer (twin brother was accepted to SLE). At the very least if you attend one or both you'll get an idea of the type of foods served.

Each meal is a 5 course meal complete with the finest of steaks for dinner. (Not really)

Its difficult to have the food be like moms home apple pie. But you can imagine preparing, serving and cleaning up for 4500 folks in less than an hour can be daunting. But there is a variety of food choices. And if you don't find what you want, there is Grant Hall. I know the popular thing is a low carb, high protein food intake. And you do learn quickly not to use food as a comfort but as fuel for your body. Most cadets are weight conscience to meet Army performance and weight standards. Another tip is to become involved with a club sport that is active year round.

Having had kids who attended state schools w/ 24/7 dining, cooked to your specification food, and unlimited options, SA food is not comparable. If you are a picky eater, you will either need a lot of $ outside your monthly pay or you will be hungry. For those who eat what is served w/out balking, it's no big deal. They might eat better at the academies than they do while deployed...or not.

The food was very good when my grad started at WP and very bad when he graduated. Even the meal at the graduation banquet was lousy and we are not picky people with discriminating palates.

USMA exchange students to AFA rave about the awesome food there.

Not trying to steal the thread, but are cadets able to bring/buy/get supplements like creatine to help them stay healthy at WP?

I've eaten meals at both USMA and USNA on my overnight visits. I wouldn't say that one is better than the other. There are some good meals and some bad meals. Just don't expect anything better than a lunch from your high school cafeteria.

Download YikYak and peek at USMA. There are daily complaints about the food, and occasionally compliments. Apparently a lot of turkey is served...
