Hey all. I just found out a candidate in my area got rejected for the Marine Corps scholarship. I was on vacation, so I won't get any mail until tomorrow. I have a couple questions. One, am I probably going to get rejected as well? I never got a call from recruiting. Also, does NROTC send out a BFE or TWE like the academy? Or will it just be a small envelop no matter what? Thanks everyone.

I found out through email. The local recruiter emailed me stating that I had been awarded an NROTC scholarship and should recieve it within the next few days.

Hopeful: I hope your news will be what you have been waiting for. If not, don't forget your other options: sideload scholarships, PLC or OCS. There are many paths to become a Marine Officer.

Oh yea, I'll be ok. I'll do college program and re apply to Navy and to the NROTC scholarship. It would be really nice to get it though.

Oh interesting, I haven't gotten anything from mine. Then again, my recruiter really doesn't seem to care too much about me, and is about to leave anyway. Maybe I will get some good news

I have been reading all the posts over the past few months and I must tell you the Marine Corps seems to be getting low marks on the notification or lack of ,with regard to its procedures. There is no excuse for the recruiters failing to return emails or calls. The Marine Corps as well as the other services ask for young men and woman to jump through hoops to compete for these coveted scholarships only to be met with "Hurry up and Wait" and "Silence". Keeping your people informed is essential to ensure confidence and respect for the chain of command. I only wish some high ranking officer(s) would take a moment to read through this forum and understand the frustration expressed by these applicants and their families and take action. The negative experience will reflect badly not only on individuals but the Marine Corps.

It is kind of weird, but then again I'm kind of low on the priority list in the grand scheme of things. It is kind of odd, I agree. I'm glad somome else noticed. I have to say, if I was on the fence about the whole millitary thing (I'm not, don't worry!) , That might be the thing to scare me off.

Hopeful: If you haven't done so, I recommend you reach out to the local recruiter or the OSO and check in with them.

Actually, I attempted to do so a while ago. I send both my recruiter and OSO an email about a month ago and haven't received a reply. It's ok, though. I should probably get the letter today since another applicant near me got his the other day, however that was a rejection

Well shoot, that's denail number two. This stinks. It's alright, I'm going to email the staff of the Villanova NROTC battalion and start their process. Although it does suck to re apy, at least I know what I'm doing, crappy recruiter aside

Actually, it's the squeeky wheel that gets the grease. Once a month is not squeeky. Two or more times a week might begin to boarder on squeeky. Perhaps too late for this but keep it in mind for the future. Also, I don't consider email to be at all squeeky. Telephones are very squeeky.

Hope all works out well for you.
