Any recommendations? Supposedly there used to be a base shuttle but this may not exist. The only means I've tracked down so far is a $70 cab ride

Thanks NorwichDad for the great information. I called as well and they said for DS to just show up and they would take care of everything from there.
I forgot to ask...do they need to be in ACUs? DS orders indicate that they MUST wear civilian clothing to travel in.
My son had orders for a different school, but I tend to think that a nice civilian button shirt, pants and shoes is really appropriate for ROTC kids traveling. Did your PMS tell you need a militiary ID? I don't think so on that but I am not sure. I can't remember and I don't want to call my son at IBOLC, sorry he is busy this week.
Yes, he was planning on wearing travel business attire.
I was just hoping that they believed him at the airport counter and give him a ride to Ft. Knox.
He does have a military ID that was issued when he became contracted. Has his picture and name on it, so that will probably work
They wear civilian clothes up to Fort Knox. The cadets will be given the information on who is picking them up right before they arrive. On my sons's arrival day, there were about 4 different van trips picking up cadets. Some senior military member always picked up the kids.
They are told to bring their dog tags. If they don't have them, they will be made at Ft. Knox. As far as military ID, if they have it they bring it or it gets issued at Ft. Knox. They will need both of these items and will get them all there if needed. Their driver's license and another form of ID will be needed.
Also they are required to bring the copy of their orders. They will show that at chow so they don't pay for their meals. We also showed it at the airport and they waived the baggage fees and the 50 lb weight limit as well. Our airport actually allowed my husband and I through security to wait with our son as he was traveling on orders.
The cadets will be given a packing list and that will vary depending on the CULP country. Two sets of ACUs along with tee shirts, socks, boots, and patches will be required it seems. A towel will be needed for their time at Ft. Knox but all bedding will be given there.
Bump
(and maybe we just have to get used to Army/Gov't inefficiencies) .
