Son arrives back from CULP to Fort Knox, Ky three days before he begins CIET at Fort Knox, Ky.

so logistics...I cant even begin?....I asked him and he said "who knows"

this is a 5 1/2 hour drive from our house. I am summing we pick him up-drive five hours, he washes his clothes and we drive him back two days later....sound right? am I missing something?

My DD was going to be in this same situation until they said MS1s weren't doing CIET. She had been told that she would stay somewhere at Ft. Knox between the two because that would be less expensive than sending her home and then bringing her back. And that was with us saying we wanted to come get her in between because we only live 2 hours away. But they won't even let us drive her to Knox when she leaves for CULP. They are flying her from Indy, to Atlanta with a layover and then to L'ville - and then the drive to Knox. Nothing is ever logical. :)

This is purely a guess, but it might be possible that your DS might be at Knox the entire time - due to in-processing. Unfortunately I can't say for sure, since I'm not going to CIET. We talked about CIET briefly during one of our MSII classes, but that was some time ago.

Welcome to the club....my son will be at Ft Knox for CLC and (3) days after that ends, he's supposed to be at Ft Bragg for CTLT. The HUGE difference being we are in San Diego so if somebody doesn't exercise a little common sense, he be spending all his free (3) days in airports or airborne. Not to mention it would be just a tad cheaper to fly him straight to Ft Bragg from Ft Knox rather than flying him all the way home and then all the way back to Ft Bragg. We'll see how that turns out....

Last summer DS was at Air Assault in Fort Benning, flew home then flew to Fort Knox for LDAC 3 days later. He got laundry done and repacked and slept.

If they fly them home enjoy the time.

They are flying him to ft Knox before CULP and from Ft Knox after CIET. Nothing in between.

Well it looks like they are at least trying to save money this year.

When DS flew back to Knox last year his flight from our town to Dallas was cancelled and moved up 1 1/2 hrs, but he was not notified. He had to sit in the airport and call the travel company for the Army to arrange a new flight to get him into Louiseville on time to catch the last shuttle to Fort Knox. Then call the right people at Fort Knox to let them know his travel plans had been altered.
This was all done by him (a 19 yr old) over the 4th of July weekend so his college HR person was on vacation. He was on his own. Thought for a little bit I was going to have to make a mad 8 hr dash to Kentucky and then 8 hrs back home, but it worked out.

I gained a whole new level of respect for him that day.

DS was home for less than 36 hours after finals before he left for his internship in Stuttgart. He has a whole 4 days between coming home from Germany and going to Knox for CLC.

They're going to put you in to the CLC holding company. If you're prior enlisted you'll know what that means. Basically a barracks for people in transition for a few days...or sometimes up to a week. For example, if you finish CLC and don't fly to CTLT for a few more days they will stick you in holding company. Basically you sit around and try to avoid trouble.

Found out today that somebody was actually thinking ahead and my son will be staying at Ft Knox for the (3) days after CLC ends before having to report to Ft Bragg for CTLT
