Anyone watching the news lately has seen that USNORTHCOM is now under FPCON (force protection condition) Bravo, meaning hightened security at all military bases and installations within USNORTHCOM, including West Point.

Does anyone have any idea what this will mean for the cadets and visitors of the Point, and what changes in operations and procedures this will entail?

Probably the most you'll see of it, if you're going for a visit, is it could take longer to get through the gate, especially without DoD ID's. It could look differently (for others reading) to those at larger installations like some of us are at (if any parents on here are going to basic training graduations soon, you'll experience this).

Edit: I doubt you'll get someone to layout what procedures will change due to the change, that's in the keep it to yourself category.

We were on base at Dobbins Saturday. Cars were searched and IDs checked. There were armed (w/ more than a sidearm) MPs at the gate. There were way more MPs than typical.

We've gone to Bravo here at work. Most of the changes aren't necessarily visible, but the wait at the gate was a little longer than normal.

Actually, I think that particular Academy day event went to stricter protocol 2 years ago. Pre-screened, Gate check names against list, etc. Due to the bigwigs & size.

I even saw some lady chased away from standing near the NJ Barriers around the hanger apron. :)
