where to purchase ABU's?

Can anyone recommend a good source to purchase ABS's for DS?

The sets issued to DS for FT are too big and the DET has no interest in exchanging them.

The BX is the only place I would trust getting FT approved ABUs. To my knowledge Dets across the nation are distributing lightweight ABUs for FT. Really interesting your son's det is refusing to exchange items that are too big for him. If he's getting a no from the POC in charge of uniforms get him to talk with his NCO. If his size isn't available they should be able to order them and get ABUs to him if he is going to one of the later MAX.

That's crazy! We had all of our ABUs 4 days after we received our EAs so we could start working in the boots. That and we were issued one pair of lightweight ABUs. The way we did it was we tried on the ABUs before they sowed on our nametapes that way we wouldn't run into that problem.
 
He should have a military id. If he does and he is not near a BX, he can try to purchase it online. I am not sure if they allow it or not.

I agree that it is insane they are not switching it out because if his unit is like our DSs, as 300s they wear ABUs, not their blues. If not going rated they wear them as 400s too.

I also agree talk to the PoC first, but if he gets nowhere talk to the NCOIC.
 
You can get them for fairly affordable prices off of eBay.

MAKE SURE, however, that the garments have the official Air Force tags on them. Otherwise, they are not genuine and are technically, not approved for wear.

I bought myself several uniform items off of eBay with no problems - ABU blouse, ABU pants, and even a service cap and ceremonial belt.

Problems with purchasing uniform items from non-official sources. I believe it is technically not allowed to purchase uniform items from a non-reputable source. There are rules against selling of issued uniform items (since you get issued them for free, and if you sell them later, it's essentially stealing). I'm not too certain about the rules regarding buying of uniform items though.

Don't be afraid to ask, and if you think that it might be wrong - it probably is.

Confused here.

You say it is not technically allowed, but you did so anyway?

The OP needs their child to step up to the plate. Tell them (cadre) that because this uniform is too big it will make highly unlikely that they will ever get high marks during inspection be at SFT or next semester as a POC. Do they want AS100s looking at him and thinking he looks sloppy because if the uniform is truly too big that the unit approves of it?

I would advise him to broach the subject with the cadre from how does this look on our unit before spending any money with me in the uniform you supplied?
 
Yeah the POC in charge of uniforms should exchange the uniform. I worked as the supply flight commander here at my DET. I was constantly having cadets exchange uniform items because they want it fit right and not look sloppy. If the POC cadet won't help, go to the NCOs.
