This means that the Academy has deemed you to be competitive as you have met the minimum requirements for admission. The additional instructions you will receive in July is the actual application. Your portal will be updated with all the requirements that must be met to apply for admission.

So the mail is just filled with instructions, while the actual application is on the portal? sort of like USMA?

Sorry, should have been more clear. The "instructions" will be in the Instructions to Candidates pdf file which wile be uploaded onto your portal as well. Almost everything in regards of your application will be done online through your portal. I don't think the academy will send any instructions through the mail.

Npak is right, what you can expect is a bunch of things to open up on your portal. There will be a link for a precandidate packet and i think you get a candidate packet. Im not sure because Its been a year. But at the very bottom of your profile, various things will appear, boxes that need to be checked. These boxes include your CFA, your candidate activities assesment, your essays, re ommendations and other forms. Be prepared for paperwork because that is what is coming in July. Its tideous but well worth it. Theres no feeling like completing and an even better feeling is being appointed. Also, just a tip, shoot for finishing by November 1 (the early action deadline) it can potentially let you know your decision sooner. Brace yourself for the rollar coaster. If you have questions ask on here, very good people in theses forums or I can try to help being that I was in your shoes. But I leave for BCT soon so if you ever messege and I dont respond, thats why. Good luck!

Awesome thanks for the reply guys, Did that July paperwork cause a lot of work?
It really depends on when you start. I wasnt completely *academy gold* on paper quite yet by July so I participated in some things to push me over the top. You also have to consider you will need to work with other people and so they can prolong the process. You have to get recommendations from teachers, they have to turn them in, you have to schedule your CFA, and you have to meet with your ALO so he can do his part. Your counselor has to do paperwork for you to. I had to improve my ACT scores. Oh and while you do all of this for USAFA, you have to be ontop of your nomination packets. They require more recommendations from teachers and things from counselors and some want essays. Its alot to paperwork. My saving graces during this to keep my sanity was binders with document protectors, saving all my essays on google drive to access anywhere, and my parents. Its a lot but some people finish quicker than I did. Mine took forever becaus I struggled with the ACT but I still made it by November 1.
