I saw a bulletin this morning announcing that our on-base chapel will be hosting vacation Bible school this summer. My initial reaction was… why is only Bible school offered and no others? Why not vacation Koran school? Why not vacation Book of Mormon? Bhagavad Gita? Tipitaka?
Also, why is any offered? We have exactly zero families living on base. There are plenty of local churches nearby that offer VBS.
Curious if anyone knows the justification?

Because it's a church and its normal for a church to offer vacation bible school. Does your chapel have an imam or rabbi? If not that's probably why you don't see a vacation Koran or Torah school.

They are attempting to meet the needs/wants of their constituents.

Dont start trouble when there is none. Trouble finds us often enough.

Agree with kp2001. My old neighbors were Muslim and their kids went to a Koran and Arabic school during the summer at the local Mosque. My guess is the base doesn't offer it because of demand. If the demand was there the base would more than likely support it or at least attempt to support it. The base offers it because lots of military families are probably looking for safe productive activities for their kids to do during the summer while they work. Just because there are zero families living on base doesn't mean that families attend the local base chapel for services and use this as their "home" church.

If you want to start one of these other programs, go for it. Just don't mess up anyone else's.
