So....can an applicant have more than 1 disqualifier.... and get 2 acceptance waivers? DD has 8 cavities and vision is 20/25...

Short answer yes, but it depends on the DQs. I think, if you search through this forum for topics on vision, the 20/25 vision -- if correctable to 20/20 -- is not a DQ (so no waiver necessary). I don't know about the dental.

Thanks for the reply....I thought it would depend on the DQs just like you said. Vision is ok but checking into dental records....it may be close to 8. Thanks again!

SueRI - Are they cavities or fillings? I can't imagine that if the cavities are filled/'corrected' it would even warrant a second look unless there is some systemic issue causing the cavities.

I agree are they cavities or fillings. Cavities are a different aspect. I actually have never heard about this DQ. Typically the big DQ for dental is wisdom teeth issues or braces.

Our DS has all of his wisdom teeth, none came in impacted, but at UPT they do one more dental check, and there was a student washed back to the next class because they had 1 impacted wisdom tooth that needed to be extracted. I think now a day they will give a DQ until they are removed. Once removed the DQ is removed. The same is true for braces once removed.

At least that is what I know.

FWIW, I would spend more time on getting all of their medical records from age 13 on in order.

Thank you all! The DodMERB lists it as "Eight or more grossly (visually) cavitated and/or carious teeth". She has had her teeth checked regularly and we are headed to the dentist for a cleaning this coming Monday so I will ask them if she actually has 8 "cavitated" teeth. Maybe a waiver.
Her vision hopefully corrects to 20/20 with glasses...we'll see...maybe another waiver.
BTW, she has only been seen by her Primary from 13 on so hopefully there won't be any other issues.
At this point, I'm somewhat obsessing over the Physical Exam but I didn't know if you could have several disqualifiers and still get separate remedials.
Thanks again!

Each DQ will be handled individually.

Remedials are not DQs. You can have 3 DQs and an additional 2 Remedials. They have no impact on each other.

I guess I was worried about the outcome of the disqualifier.....but seems like the waiver should take care of her vision since its a "regular" astigmatism of less than 3.0 diopters and her better eye can see 20/20. Thanks again.

Both eyes must be corrected to 20/20. Honestly, this is a marathon. If she is only going for a ROTC scholarship, chances are she will not be scheduled for an exam until she is offered a scholarship.

If she is going for the SAs, they typically will not offer until they deem them competitive.

OK, thanks for this info! Her other eye corrects to 20/25....headed for the waiver! Yeah, it's a marathon...hopefully, finish line this time next year at USCGA (she's a jr now in HS).

Wait....just read somewhere on another military forum that USCGA does not take any medical waivers....can this be true?? Also, does vision HAVE to be 20/20 or can it..."..... corrects to an acceptable standard".

I had a few medical waivers. It's been awhile though so I'm not sure if that's changed, but I doubt it.
