Does anybody know how USCGA converts ACT scores to SAT scores? I scored a 32 English, 34 Math and 29 English/Writing Combined with a 30 Composite. Thanks!

Those are great scores! While your application is based on much more than scores alone, those are great scores to submit.

However there is plenty of time to take the test again to improve them even more. CGA superscores.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot! I'm planning on taking it again in September. USMMA said they converted the English to 720 and Math to 780, but I had heard that USCGA converts the English/Writing score which is lower for me. I was just curious. I start AIM this weekend, so maybe we will get some Q&A time with admissions during the week. Appreciate the fast response!

If USMMA actually said that, they favor the ACT over the SAT. 32 English equates to 710. 34 Math equates to 750. The USCGA may not favor the ACT like USMMA does.

Frenzymando, yeah they said that and it's actually up on my portal. It seems to correspond to the ACT-SAT 2015 Official Concordance Table, but different schools seem to do it differently which is why I asked. Thanks for the response!

Here's the chart that I think is being used, but again I'm not really sure which is why I asked.

That chart is identical to the one I just showed you. It says 34 ACT=1510 CR+M. 1510/2 = 755. It then says 32 ACT=1420 CR+M. 1420/2= 710. I think USMMA made a mistake.

The Meyers table in your post seems a bit different from the actual concordance tables. The concordance tables don't show the calculation you are making to divide anything by two. The concordance tables merely correlate an ACT score to an SAT score range and score point. So what USMMA did makes sense according to the concordance table. The link below shows the joint ACT and SAT statement. ACT 34 correlates to an SAT score range of 770 -790 (770 single score) and an ACT 32 correlates to a 710-720. There's no division operation of a CR+M score mentioned. It's not a calculation, it's a correlation. Again, I already know what USMMA does. My question is what USCGA does. I appreciate how you "solved for x", but I don't believe that's correct based on the official concordance tables. Regardless, I'm new here and I appreciate your post. I was just looking for some information. Not looking to argue with you, so I'll just stop here. Thanks for your time.

Joint SAT-ACT Statement on Concordance

Bob scores a 34 on the ACT. He gets a 33 Math, 33 English, 34 Reading, and 34 Science.

Joe scores a 34 on the ACT as well. He gets a 35 Math, 34 English, 34 Reading, and 34 Science.

As you can see, Joe clearly did better on the ACT than Bob. That is the reason that there is a score range. A 33.5 equals a 34 composite and a 34.25 equals a 4 composite as well. 1490 equates to 33.5, and 34.25 equates to 1530. The range is to show the value of a 33.5 versus a 34.25.

There is a reason that I divided by 2.

Let's imagine a world where the ACT only has 2 sections. The math section, and the English section. Steve scores a 34 on the English section and a 34 on the Math section for a 34 composite. Steve goes to the conversion chart, and converts his 34 ACT to an SAT score. The chart reads:1510 CR+M. So a 34 ACT equates to a 1510 SAT. But wait, Steve also wants to convert his Math ACT scores to an SAT Math score out of 800. Well, half of Steve's 34 composite is the math section, and half of it is the English. A 34 composite equals a 1510, so to find the value of his Math ACT score, we divide 1510 by two.

I'm not trying to argue either, I'm simply telling you how it works. You scored a 32 English and a 34 Math. In the imaginary world where the ACT only has 2 sections, you earned a 33 composite. A 33 composite is the same as a 1460. But according to you, you get 780 Math and 720 English, which adds up to a 1500. 1460=/=1500. What USMMA does not make any sense whatsoever. They just gave you 40 free SAT points.

Also, I scored a 35 on my Math ACT. What would you expect this to convert to on an SAT score if 34 is already a 780? You think I only get 10 Math SAT points for moving up 1 point Math ACT point? That doesn't make any sense. 1 ACT point is supposed to be worth about the same as 40 SAT points.
