Rolling Admission?

Yes. And by the way, the questions that you've posted have been asked before and I would recommend looking through the forum to find more detailed explanations. The academy's website also has answers to common questions which I suggest you reading up since it looks like you are just beginning to apply.

No. West Point does not use rolling admission. They use to but have not for several years.

buff81, when I was at SLE this year, the Director of Admissions and the Regional Commander told us that it was. I believe on the USMA website it also says it does.

http://www.usma.edu/admissions/_layouts/mobile/mblwiki.aspx?Url=/admissions/SitePages/Steps.aspx

It says on the website under step 7:

"West Point no longer conducts rolling admissions. The majority of offers of admission are made between November and June of the following year. However, for those fully qualified, outstanding candidates who have completed all admissions requirements, they may receive offers as early as November."

wait, but if it offers admissions between November and June I don't understand how that is not rolling admissions?

The roll is relative. Bulk come out in a very short time span. There are some early but very few from my observation. Navy on the other hand, they like to roll more. Guess it comes from being on ships

Depends on how you define "rolling admission." Actually appointment certificates in November, no rolling admission. Letter of Assurance, which is not an official appointment but very close, in November.

West Point rolls out very few LOAs and appointments prior to the bulk time frame in late winter/early spring.

Does West Point go on rolling admission?
andrewbcpark, you are obviously very enthusiastic and excited about West Point. Please read the stickies at the top of the USMA forum page for lots of good information and use the excellent search function on the page for answers to commonly asked questions. You can select for your search to only be in the USMA forum.

And of course, there is tons of information here: http://www.usma.edu/admissions/SitePages/Home.aspx

WP used traditional rolling admission through the 2014 class. IOW - you could receive an appointment as early as September if you had a service connected nom (no MOCs are filling their slates at that point). With the 2014 class, this traditional rolling admission along with LOAs, ended up with the class being larger than desired. Therefore, starting with 2015, they reigned back on the LOAs and discontinued traditional rolling admission. This is when LOEs came into existence.
Currently, with early file completion and a service connected nom, you could receive an appointment as early as Nov. but there are not that many that get these early appts. The vast majority of appts start being offered in the Jan-March timeframe. Why? Without a service connected nom, WP has to wait until the MOC turns in their slate which are not due until the end of January. The first ones you see in January are usually the vacancy winners and then they continue to roll out after that. I suppose that you could call that rolling admissions but not in the traditional sense.
After the 2014 class, WP said they would discontinue rolling admissions. I can't explain why the Director of Admissions and a RC would say that they do have rolling admissions unless 1) they are going back to the way they did things prior t0 the 2014 class or 2) they are encouraging early file completion.

For the past few year, we've had a thread where appointees would post when they received their appointments including what kind of nom, date and state/district. It represents a small percentage of the whole class but it seems to be a pretty accurate representation of when appointments are offered.
This is for the 2019 class : http://www.serviceacademyforums.com...-appointment-thread.40699/page-11#post-419092
It shows there was 1 appointment in Dec. but most were received in Jan-Feb. with more trickling out through April.
Class of 2018 list shows most in Jan-Feb also : http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/class-of-2018-appointments.35640/page-7

In contrast, here is the appt thread for USNA's Class of 2019: http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/class-of-2019-appointment-thread.40698/page-9
There are appointments listed that were offered in Oct - one early Oct . That is what I would consider traditional Rolling Admissions which WP stopped after the Class of 2014.

Bottom line:
Finish your file as early as possible.
