I am a contracted cadet going into my MS2 year. I was wondering if our stipend will start again in August or September? I have researched online and all the information I have seen says we get it for 10 months, so that would lead me to believe August. Just wondering so I can budget the rest of my summer. Thank you in advance!

When does your school year start up again? That is the deciding factor.

Starts 9/1, than 9/15 would be your paydate since you have to show up 1st to collect the check. Starts 8/15, than 9/1.

IOWS, don't expect any money until you return to school, and even than it will be at least 2 weeks after school starts on a good day.

As an MS1/2, I do not believe you get it for a whole 10 months/year. From what I've gotten, I've gotten it just for the school year - nothing more nothing less. Whenever you don't go for a full month (ie: August, September) you get paid per diem.

However, MS3/4 years I believe it's something to that effect (10 months). My understanding is that cadets get paid over the summer months as well - someone here would have more info on that though.

You are correct. DS is a rising MSIV at CLC and has received his stipend this summer.

He should wait before he spends that or seek clarification. Unless something has changed (and I'm no longer connected with USACC), cadets can NOT receive both stipend and summer training pay at the same time. HOWEVER, due to system requirements (ie they can't take 3s/4s out of the system for the summer only), MS3s and 4s will receive both usually and have the stipend taken back.

I can try and dig up a digital copy of the cadet pay info as I just threw away the hard copy I had last week.

You'll get paid when you're in school up to 10 months. If it's not a full month, they'll prorate the stipend.

Thanks for the tip.

KEY words UP TO 10 months.

IE My DS2 attends GMU (not ROTC). He will start in the end of August and end in May. Count your fingers and that is 10 months. My DD at VT (also not ROTC) would have that too.

However, even contracted cadets/mids must show up at school, pass the PFA before any stipend is paid.

JMPO, but you are SOL from a money aspect until at least 2 weeks after school starts again.

I have to ask from a teach me aspect. DS as a 300 rising 400 scholarship cadet for AFROTC aka MSIII to IV,actually got paid the stipend during the summer, even when not training. How does it work for rising MSIV, do they get paid that way too?

PIMA my DS (a rising MSIV) received the stipend in June and again now in July for the first time, reading previous posts on the forum, I wasn't surprised. I gather from BULL's comment that if he's paid for the 29 days he's at CLC they'll deduct the stipend if there is an overlap. BTW, ten degrees cooler at Ft. Knox than eastern LI today (just sayin').

So it is like AFROTC. Rising seniors get paid during the summer.

I think that is the case. The issue still TBD is the rising MSIII. This is the first year a rising MSIII (some, most or all???) has had required summer training like CIET. In the past is was either CULP, Project GO, military internships or AA,AB training now CIET is required for rising MSII's and III's.

Correct, you just can't get both at the same time. DFAS actually sent me a letter a couple months ago saying I was my pay overlapped a year or so ago and I had to pay back $65 or so dollars. Just something to keep in mind so he doesn't spend it all and get surprised by a deduction.
