On my candidate portal it says "this evaluation will not begin until July 31, 2015 at the earliest for most candidates to USMA 2020". Does this mean that admissions evaluates my 6 semester transcripts, resume, and candidate portal and then notifies me if I can continue applying to West Point?

They will look at your grades and SAT/ACT and whatever else is on part 1. If you are competitive, you will be allowed to complete the rest of the application.

Initially this said July 1 and they changed it to July 31. I heard they had cut their staff and the workloads increased

Until then should I keep training for the the CFA and working on my nomination application?

Yep! Finish up those nomination essays and keep working out. I highly recommend completing the West Point applicant ASAP. My FFR described the process like a long line of doors: You have to complete one door before the next one will unlock. Finish the essays and get your recommendations in ASAP.

I have a question, yesterday I received a noncommittal letter stating that my candidate file was opened, but on my portal it still states: Initial Evaluation Pending. What does that mean?

I think it means that if u pass this evaluation (which is based off ur sat/act scores, resume, transcripts, and portal) then u can move onto the nxt part of the application

I think West Point calls it the "second step kit" which probably includes the CFA, DoDMETS, essay, SOEs, and nominations.

On the letter it stated that my candidate file has been opened and that a complete candidate application is available on my candidate portal, but no forms show up.

Did u fill out the part where it asks for sat/act scores, athletic, and non-athletic activities? Bc I think as of right now until u pass the initial evaluation u just have to keep working on the CFA and ur nominations

Yes I filled everything out.

Ok I believe bow u just have to wait for West Point to contact u and just keep checking ur portal
Yeah, I think you're right because on the letter it said that they would work with me to complete my file and take it through the evaluation process.

I am a US citizen from gemany who would like to attend West Point. I took my first SAT in december to get used to the different educational system and scored 1000 and 5 on my Essay without studying since i already had a ton of school work. Now, since my summer vacation is up I want to take the SAT again in August and properly prepare for it. While reading these posts above i asked myself if that is even too late? all answers appreciated!

Never too late for more SAT/ACT scores. Were you able to take the SAT under 'non native English speaker' or similar protocol? Not up to date but as I recall there is such an accommodation for folks like you.
