Boots Question

My DD is having a problem with her boots. She was issued size 4 boots and that's the smallest Belleville makes, but they don't come in extra narrow or even narrow. They ended up being too big and this led to shin splints. She wasn't even issued a second pair since they are in back order (she hasn't been issued a second pair of ABU paints either because again back order. This is what you get for being too tiny). Anyway, before she gets a second pair issued, I wanted to buy one. Belleville seem to be out of the question apparently because they are too large. So what would you recommend:
1. What brand would you recommend if you have a small/narrow foot?
2. What model?
3. Where to get them? I've been doing searches but it's really hard to find women's boots that are AF approved. The mens all have a 4 as the smallest size and therefore I can't get them.

Thank you

Can't help on the AF approved boots. But is it possible that the shin splints are not a result of boot size? Stress fractures from running in boots could be the result of other things like running style or lack of proper scale up or even normal wear and tear (until tolerance is achieved).

Large boot sizes can sometimes be solved with wearing multiple socks or using inserts.

We don't think so because it took forever for them to even give her a pair (lots of girls with small feet this year) and she did most of basics with sneakers and she was fine. As soon as she got the boots, the problem started.

I've sent her inserts and she's doing a little better.

Nike is the choice of upperclassman. HOWEVER -- this is squadron specific, so make sure: 1) She checks and gets permission from squad leaders; 2) Get the AF approved version (it says right in the description). I believe that even if they are OK's for her squad, she cannot where until after Parents' Weekend.

Having said that, sizes are still hard to come by -- I am looking for 7.5 for my DD and still cannot find.

She's asked and it's fine. We are looking for a 5.5 and we can't find anything in stock.

If you can't find Nikes in her size, try Rockys...they're pretty popular here too and are similarly lightweight.

After reading your post again, I think this is what she was issued already so it won't work.

If you call Nike Customer service, you can get 10% off your entire order being in the military/veteran/cadet, plus if you sign up for their loyalty program, you get free shipping (I am not a Nike rep). Nike was very helpful in working with us to get this discount, but you have to call each time (even after being set up) as they don't have a way of applying the discount on internet orders. I should also mention that our DS loves his Nike boots.....We brought them A-Day and he was able to wear them.

Thank you so much. I'll pass this along.

The Community Center here on base has a Military Clothing store with a wide range of boots. She'll need to borrow a car to get there but at least she'd be able to try on the different boots before a purchase. They may be able to do a special order if necessary, but I'm not sure.

Thank you so much for this information. I want her to try some and pick what feels best and I had no idea how to go about it.

Danner boots are terrific boots, well made, comfortable and durable. A favorite among many military members, especially in the Pacific Northwest.....

My 25yo son still occasionally wears Danner goretex hiking boots I wore before he was born.

In the era of super light tennis shoes construction boots they are less common, but for mountain/rugged terrain where you need support they are great.

This is exactly why I asked. The Nike everyone recommends are half the weight of these boots so I was confused. Thank you.
