My son had his dodmerb exams almost two weeks ago. Waiting on results. He is applying to all of the academies, as well as ROTC to each service. Frankly, I am not sure which Academy set the dodmerb up, but my question is, does he need to do anything to get the results to each of the different academies, or is there something that automatically triggers that?

The DoDMERB reviews all applicant exams, for every service academy and ROTC program. Once his name is in the database, as well as exam results, I'd think he would be all set for everything you mentioned.

Once the other commissioning sources (SA/ROTC) request the exam, the results will be given to them. DoDMERB's job is the medical clearinghouse, for simple terms. Their job is to perform the exam, Q or DQ. The commissioning sources will decide if a waiver will be approved. Every SA and ROTC HSSP will be able to use the same exam as their medical requirement.

They will determine when they want the exam results from a move forward perspective as a candidate.

Use ROTC as an example, ROTC candidates are not offered the exam until they are awarded a scholarship. That is their process. When your DS gets a scholarship they will than use this exam. There will not be another exam. However, at the same point, it has no impact on his chances for getting a scholarship.

Do not read anything into getting an exam early or which source requested it. Just wait for the results, and if a remedial or DQ comes down, get in front of it, because it can takes weeks or months to get a waiver.

Thanks for the info. So my son need not do anything in order to have his medical results sent to the other academies? Easy enough.

Just curious pima, I have been reading these forum threads over the past few months after my son really started pursuing the academies, and see how active and knowledgeable you are with all of this Academy and ROTC stuff. How is it that you know so much? I assume you or your children attended the academies, or you worked in some capacity with one of the academies? Regardless, I do appreciate the info.

West Point will not request DoDMER exam result commissioned through another commissioning source unless the candidate is competitive and completes most, if not, all of the West Point application.
