Tier 1 to Tier 3

Hey guys

I was wondering how hard is it to transfer from a tier 1 major to a tier 3 major? I'm currently enrolled as an engineering major (suggestion from my parents) but I realized I am just not that interested in it. If any of you have any suggestions on what to do, that would be great!

You don't mention if it's AFROTC or NROTC, but presumably it's one of those. In either case it will be extremely difficult to make that change and retain the scholarship. I expect permission must be obtained at the Brigade level. If you're a sophomore or higher it might also make i difficult to graduate in 4 years which would be another hurdle.

However, I expect you're a freshman just starting out and you let your parents push you into it (perhaps for the purposes of he scholarship). Not a smart move although I understand it because I tried to encourage my son to consider a Tier 1. Fortunately, he wouldn't buy it.

It's possible you could change major, lose the scholarship, and then pursue a sideload scholarship if you are Navy. It might be worth talking with your parents and cadre about. If you're Air Force I don't know what other options you may have other than to change and perhaps lose the scholarship, or ride it out. Who knows? Maybe you'll get permission to change. Oh, one more thing, if you're Navy you could apply to change to Marine Option and then the major would be moot.,

Are you on scholarship now? If you are, switching to tier 3 will be very difficult. Can you find something in tier 2 that interests you, that switch is more doable. DS did switch from tier 2 to tier 3 before getting a sideload scholarship but he was at or near the top of his unit and had the PNS solidly behind him.
