Would like some insight on the importance of the personal statement. I am not a very strong writer and the personal statement is the only part of my application I have left. I'm getting feedback from a few close supporters but I would like to submit it soon. Any insight on how heavily the personal statement weighs in your application as a whole?

The personal statement is the only time you personally communicate with the Admissions Board. The only "people" contact as opposed to numbers and letters. The only voice you will have with them. The only time to let them see how you think about something. How important do you think that is?

Will you expend more/less effort putting it together based on our replies? I am not sure what you are expecting us to tell you. I would assume EVERYTHING you provide as part of the application process is important and treat it as such. Obviously, you want to avoid grammatical/spelling errors, want someone else to proof-read it etc.

Spud put it pretty straight forward, its important and should go without saying! Don't keep putting it off to get the "perfect" response, as there is no such thing. Put your best effort forward and get it turned in.

Thank you all for your responses! I know how important the statement is but I also wanted to submit it in a timely fashion. Had a few people read it and edit it, and I turned it in last night. My app is completed now!

Congratulations! Now for the waiting game...
