My status on armycadetportal for CULP reads submitted/certified. Does this mean that I got a spot in the 2016 class for CULP? I am an MSII cadet and applied for Military to Military Contact in Central/South America, but am unsure if this means I got it. If anyone can help me out with my uncertainty I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

No I believe that it means your application was received (submitted) and you have met the requirements of the program (certified) . You will be notified at a later date if you did receive a slot. Good luck to you. I know that is very exciting and nerve wracking at the same time.

Nope...just means your application has been received.

I know CULP is for contracted AROTC and there is ProjectGo for non-contracted students. My DS is a freshman 3-year AD winner. When does he technically become contracted? Would it be possible for him to participate in a CULP mission? If CULP isn't possible, when should he start looking at Project Go? As always, this site has been very helpful and I thank you in advance.

Unless he gets his scholarship upgraded this year (which is always a possibility), he would contract the start of his sophomore year providing he passes the APFT and meets the ROTC requirements.

Your son will still have the opportunity to apply for CULP next year as a MS2. Project GO is always a good option as well., I'm not well versed in Project GO, others should be able to give you more information on the application process.

Our DS did project go between MS 1 & 2 years. He had a great experience and met cadets and mids from all over the country while studying in WI. There are also international opportunities for participants. I think that CULP deadline is getting close.

Thanks so much for your advice. I really think you guys could create an e-book and sell it to new ROTC parents. I looked into Project GO and it turns out most of the programs will open up their application process on 1November.

While I would love an upgrade, I'm sure the Cadre can spend the money on some other non-scholarship cadets. In the incoming freshman class of 11, the breakdown is 1- 4yr and 2-3AD winners. The good news is he passed the APFT already. When they issued his gear, only the scholarship winners had their name embroidered on their uniforms.

If you are a 3 AD you should expect to be considered for CIET. That is most likely going to be your option for summer training until you get contracted.
