Today, I found out that my application has been deferred for my first semester grades. What does this mean? I have good grades, and good test scores. I don't understand.

It just means they want to see your first semester grades before making a decision. This is not uncommon and no reason to panic. Sometimes this is to see your performance or to see how you are doing in some core courses such as Calc, Chem or Physics that USNA pays particular attention to. Hang in there, this happens every year.

My admissions counselor said it was because I made my only C in precalc and they wanted to see how I did in Calc I have an A. How many deferred get accepted?

The Admissions Board, obviously, had concerns with your math grades. Just make sure that you have an "A" at the end of the semester. If I was in your shoes, I would be more concerned about having the transcript read all A's for the semester than I would be about how many candidates are appointed after being deferred. If the former isn't satisfied the latter might be moot.

Agree with 08. No one here knows this answer or if they even keep statistics on that. Don't worry about the deferral. Heck all reapplicants aren't even looked at until they have their 1st semester grades in. Focus on the grade and doing well, that is all you can control.
