This is the first post in regards to the 2016 rated board which meets February 1st 2016. Feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related. Id like to hear peoples scores and stats if possible.

I'm going up for the boards in 2016 as well. I'm a senior, but I'm on the 5 year engineering major track. Here are my stats.

GPA: 3.1
PFA 97.8
PCSM 55
FT Rank top third (not dg or sp)

I'm hoping for pilot but I realize my scores are a little below average.

I received a technical EA for Field training in 2014 when I went. My commander at the time said I could still apply for rated, but I didn't have to accept a rated slot if I wasn't happy with what I got.

Does anyone know if preference is given to rated EA slots? Basically am I at a disadvantage because I chose a tech EA instead of rated?

Thanks in advance. Best of luck to everyone.

Reuab,

I do think there might be a disadvantage to competing with a tech EA as opposed to a rated EA. I think they limit the amount of rated jobs they give to tech EAs. If it went strictly off Order of Merit then there would be nothing preventing from awarding half, if not more, of the positions to those who competed with tech EAs. My stats are below..

GPA: 3.62
PFA: 96.6
PCSM: 72
FT Rank: Top 20%
RSS: 1 or 2 of 18

Joekenny,

Thanks for your response. What you said definitely makes sense. Did you hear that anywhere about EAs, or is that just what you think? I'm not trying to argue it, because I agree with you. Just wondering if it was based off anything.

Excellent stats by the way.

Thanks for the compliment on the stats, I'm hoping for ENJJPT.

About two years ago we had a retired Brig Gen who sat on some of these rated/EA boards come talk to us at LLAB. I'm an electrical engineer major and I wanted to know if I was at a disadvantage when I would ultimately compete on the rated board. His gave me a vague answer but drawing from that conversation is where I came up with the aforementioned assumption.

Reuab,

I recall making a post on another forum the day I spoke with that individual who worked on the boards. Here is what I said he had to say about tech EAs and the rated board 2 years ago:

"Today we had a distinguished visitor, the AFROTC deputy registrar, come talk to our class. He was a good source of knowledge considering he is in charge of all the scholarship selection boards and knows plenty about other selection boards. I am an electrical engineer major and I have always heard the rumor that as an engineer major I am at a disadvantage when it comes to going rated. I asked Mr. Mann if engineer majors are indeed at a disadvantage. What he revealed to me was that normally AFROTC accounts for 45% of their tech degree cadets to go rated. In the case of electrical engineers, computer engineers, and meteorology majors, they sometimes cap it at less than 45%. He went on to say that last year they capped those 3 majors at 25%. He said this year, FY13, they had an excess of computer engineers and therefore they were not capped. So if anyone else had heard this about engineers students, we now have some confirmation."

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks for the 2015 Averages! I received a rated EA in 2012. I'm currently a senior majoring in Aviation Operations. My scores are at:

GPA: 3.4
PFA: 96.1
PCSM: 77
FT Rank bottom third
RSS: top 10%?

I'm really trying to make up for my performance at FT with my PCSM. I am interested to see what others got! I wish you all luck!

Am I missing something globemaster?

Went to SFT in 2012? Rated EA? Bahahaahaha!

Rated EA did not occur until SFT 14.

OBTW, if you were up for SFT in 12, than the latest you would have graduated was 2015. How is it you are a senior commissioning in 2016 and attended SFT in the summer of 2012?

Oh wait! Sorry! Hahaha I started in 2012, I went to Field Training with a Rated EA the Summer of 2014. I graduate Spring 2017.

GPA: 3.8
PFA: 97.8
PCSM: 28
FT: DG
Ranking: 1/28

This was my PCSM from earlier in the year, retaking the TBAS this month with 21 flying hours logged. How much did you guys' TBAS improve if you took it a second time? I want to get into 40's (not including my 21 hrs) my second try.

GPA: 3.17
PFA: 95.7
PCSM: 57
FT: DG
Ranking: Somewhere in the top 1/3

Should I retake my TBAS and/or my PFA? I'm hoping for pilot but I know my numbers are a bit short of the average. My CSO score was an 81.

When I retook mine I went from 52 to 68. I only had 1 hour of flight at the time.

Your score will most likely improve but its not a guaranteed thing. Ultimately it is up to you. Like I posted, mine improved by 16 points just for retaking it.

JMPO so take it with a grain of salt.

UPT bases are running at 110%+. They are backlogged big time. This is going to be from the Big Blue side too regarding the pipeline to stop the clog.

Just like SFT, the stats for UPT last year may mean nothing for your year group if AEC says we need them to slow the pace.

I wish you all the best.

I think they take the most recent score, not the highest. Sorry to make any decisions harder, but just so you are aware.

Wondering if my low GPA will automatically exclude me from pilot selection?

GPA: 2.77
PFA: 96.6
FT: top third
PCSM: 96
RSS: top 3/12

bb2405,

I would not worry too much about the low GPA. Your GPA is only 10% of your order of merit (OM). Your PCSM is really high which constitutes for 40% of your OM. However, your GPA could factor into your RSS. Nonetheless, I think you're looking pretty solid with that 96 PCSM!

FYI,

The previous board used the following weighted factors to comprise the OM:

GPA: 10%
PFA: 15%
FT: 15%
PCSM: 40%
RSS: 20%

The most current AFROTCI 36-2011 (July 2015) has every factor, minus PCSM, as to be determined (TBD).

Rated OM.PNG

I can't confirm this but the unofficial word is that the OM breakdown will look like this:

GPA: 10%
PFA: 10%
FT: 15%
PCSM: 40%
RSS: 25%
