Medical exam

My son applied early action to USCGA and received an email a few weeks ago detailing how he should go about getting the medical exam done. Is this a good sign regarding acceptance or does everyone receive this information? Should we wait until he is accepted to begin the medical exam process or start now?

I can't answer whether or not it is a good sign, but he should get started right away on his medical exam. Sometimes it can take weeks to get an appointment and if there are any snags, you would rather know now than later. If the USCGA is like the other SAs, he cannot get an appointment unless he passes his medical, so I say get it done.
 
+1 to FalconsRock. Don't mean to be harsh but I don't understand why you waited this long!
 
I believe there is only a few week time frame to get the physical scheduled once you receive the paperwork. Get it scheduled yesterday.
 
Most academies consider the medical an automatic once you have completed a set number of pieces of the application, for the USAFA it automatically requests the DoDMERB physical after 3 parts of the application are completed. Just enough to prove you are really interested but early enough to make sure you qualify. Good luck, my son loved the USCGA when we visited a few weeks ago.
 
^ hope this is true. DD received an envelope with instrictions to schedule the appointments. Was thinking that was typical and wasn't sure if it was a result of the USCGA ap or the ROTC ap.

CGA does not do it automatically, they only forward names to DODMETS for applicants who are deemed competitive for appointments.
