Did anyone get an LOA in the mail today. We were very excited to go to the mailbox today!

We got ours!! Looks like they got mailed out Friday. Very exciting.
Keep checking your portal it usually will change before you get the regular mail. Good luck to all and Congrats to those who received it already.

Congratulations. So happy for you. Your hard work and determination paid off.

A lot of factors play into LOA's. While a Letter of Assurance is a nice thing to have, your main goal should be getting an appointment. Best of luck!

Last I checked a LOA is almost a guarantee of an appointment at least that's what the LCDR in admissions told us

Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. One still needs an appointment and that is not a guarantee. Focus on being prepared for nomination interviews.

No one can tell you the number of LOA's (except admissions officer) and I'm sure it varies each year. I suspect they select 2 or 3 of the top candidates from each state, and in some states could none if no one is outstanding. Why does it matter? Suffice it to say, it's a high honor to get this assurance. It's yours to lose. Just need to complete the final requirements by the deadline, stay out of trouble and keep your grades up.

Yes and I think you only have 30 days to complete your dodmerb after you receive your paper work in the mail

Does your dodmerb need to be completed to receive a loa?
If you are asking, as I suspect you are, whether your DoDMERB paperwork needs to be completed BEFORE you receive an LOA, the answer is 'no'. You do eventually have to successfully pass a DoDMERB exam or get a waiver. There is no 30 day limit to complete this process, although you might need to complete the physical exam itself in 30 days.

My son got his LOA email today! We have been waiting and wondering. It is so wonderful to have an LOA in hand. One more MOC interview tomorrow then hopefully the appointment will be official.
