Is this passing? Or do I need to retake it for the Mile. I actually took this while I had a cold, and all of these events (except for mile), was an OVERALL personal best. My mile time is normally 6:40, but I just didn't do too well there. I am going to retake this no matter what. I am just wondering if this would render me passing.

I think it's passable but is this what you want the board to see? If you want to be as competitive as possible, you present your best self. If you can run a 6:40, then do it if your deadline allows. I'm assuming your 6:40 was run when you were completely fresh and not after the CFA. Understand that your mile time will be a lot worse in the CFA than normal because you will be fighting fatigue in the upper body and core. I recommend doing a couple of tempo runs to get used to lactic acid buildup while running hard if you have time (normally a tempo is your mile pace + 1 minute for 3 miles eg: mile PR is 6 minutes, so tempo would be a 3 mile run in 21 minutes) Note that USAFA only allows one submission of the CFA if it is passing, so make it count.

I was just given the chance to take a second CFA. Does this mean I passed?
The candidate kit states:

"If you fail the first CFA, you will automatically be rescheduled for a second CFA. Please note that failure of the first CFA will be taken into account when your file is reviewed. If you fail the second CFA your file will normally be closed."

I'm not sure if that means if you passed or if you failed. But personally, I don't think it would make sense if being offered a second chance was an indication of one passing.

My guess is you failed the run, the others seem in range for passing or at least avg.

Anything to me, personally, over a 7:30 min mile places you in the very low end. They never publicize what is the official fail, but if you look at the PFA, it is 1 1/2 miles, 7:45 min mile would place you at risk since I believe for males it is 11:30 for that exam. Expect your pace to decrease in time with the length of a run.

Will not swear, but I believe the max run time for the CFA is 5:30.

Do the test in order. If you are maxxing on one portion...stop once you hit the max. You get no extra points over the max. Save your energy for the next portion.
~ Run in all types of weather.. wake up early before school when it is cold to go for a run. Run when it is spitting rain. Run and than follow up with sprints. Run, run, run.

Well put, Pima. The CFA is a loading exam. It is designed to test your core strength. The mile time is the proof. Work the entire exam from start to finish and get the mile under 6 mins. Good luck!
