Hey everyone! I recently had my congressional nomination interviews, and the West Point board informed me during the interview that I had received a presidential nomination. My portal hasn't changed in any way, although USMA did recently grant me a waiver. If I have actually received the nom, shouldn't I have heard something? I'm worried that they were mistaken and will not consider me for a nomination because of this. Thanks!

Presidential Noms usually just show up on the portals. MOCs can notify in a variety of ways. Some find out they have MOC Noms from their portals, others will hear first from an email, call or letter.

I would think you would know if you have a Presidential nom. It's something you apply for and you either qualify or you don't. In fact you'll know if you actually qualify when you apply and if you do you have the nom. About 700-800 people may have a Presidential nom of which up to 100 will receive an appointment. So did you apply for it? If not then I believe they were mistaken; otherwise, as NavyHoops said, it will just show up on your portal at some point.

It's been in my portal since August, I'm just unsure of whether I have actually received it or not. I guess I will know if I receive an appointment?

That is correct. You have the Nom as Kinnem stated. The numbers can change but it's around 700-800 candidates who qualify for the Presidential Nom, but only 100 can be appointed with a Presidential Nom. It's why the SAs say to apply to all Nom sources. It's like a puzzle as each SA puts together a class. They can move people around to different Nom sources as they receive them. Some folks will qualify and receive 3, 4, and even 5 noms and the SA can then move them around to possibly open up spots for other desired candidates. If you qualify for multiple Noms you might not even know who your Nom was charged to until later.

Thanks so much for your insight! I can only hope I will receive the congressional nom as well.
