"Rear Adm. David F. Baucom, the director of strategy and policy at the U.S. Transportation Command, became so intoxicated at an upscale beachfront resort in April that he struck his head on a barstool, wet his pants and needed an escort back to his room, according to an investigative report by the Naval Inspector General.

"A few hours later, still in a haze, Baucom re-emerged from his room without any clothes on - as his door automatically locked behind him, the report states.

I was reading this article and the comments on a Marine site earlier today... the comments were simply amazing. I couldn't stop laughing.

Did anybody get the license plate on that truck that hit me last night? :D

When I was on Navy Staff at the Pentagon, I often sat in the back of the room when the Vice Chief (4-star) would lecture the brand new admirals at New Flag Officers Conference about sex with the wrong people, drinking, cheating on travel claims, and Doing Stupid Things, pointing out the stuff they would never dreamed of doing earlier in their career would undoubtedly be done by at least 10 of them in that room, statistically. He warned them of hubris, and feelings of entitlement and invulnerability. I got to read all the interesting Flag Officer Incident files going forward. My oh my indeed!

My personal favorite quote:

Although Baucom said there was much he didn't remember about his actions that night, he clearly recalled why he wasn't wearing any clothes.

He had failed to pack his pajamas because he was concerned about the weight of his luggage and "did not want to pay the extra $25 for a 2nd bag," according to an email he sent a colleague a few days later.

"Lesson learned," he concluded. "I'll pack my PJs next time."

G**, help us all! Did they forget what their Mothers and Fathers taught them about age 17?

That must have preceded the a** covering, log rolling and excuse making training?

USMC--Semper Fidelis, USN--Semper ubi sub ubi!

That is impressive....

SNL-worthy.
I do feel for his family. Husband/dad turned into the day's joke.

It's sad this probably happens more than we ever hear about. Whatever happened to lead by example?
